“Nice hotel, restaurants not so good”
Reviewed March 11, 2009

The hotel location was great, the rooms were clean and the views from the balcony were fantastic. The pool and bar area were also nice. My only complaint was the food from the hotel restaurants. The service was fine but the quality of the food itself seemed to be lacking.

We looked at this facility last year while staying elsewhere on Fort Myers Beach and liked the unit they showed us. So we decided to give it a try this year. All units are one bedroom suites with King beds, living rooms, kitchen areas and spacious balconies. Other things, however, prevent me from giving a higher rating. First, this is a full service hotel with bar, restaurant, and banquet facilities. When there are functions going on, the available parking is inadequate. Twice we had to try to find alternative parking which is near impossible on the beach. The Diamond Head is also a time share building and we were stopped numerous times (and called in our room) by employees urging us to attend their Open House - which is a quick tour and then an hour long sales pitch. We discovered that the time share units are furnished and finished better than the rentals.
Our unit was already showing signs of wear and the marginal finishing is evident. Both sliding glass doors to the balcony were difficult to operate and near impossible to close.
The door from the living room to the bedroom would not close as it was mounted out of alignment.
There is no oven or range top - only a microwave. The refridgerator is one of the small under the counter, dormitory type units. There is not sufficient room to stand a quart jar of milk, beer bottle or wine bottle. I was able to remove a shelve to make it more useful.
The kitchen furnishings are light - exactly 4 of everything. Four glasses, four cups, four plates, four spoons, etc. If you eat breakfast or lunch in the room you will be washing dishes constantly.
Daily maid service is provided although it is light. We were there 5 days and did not receive a change of linens. Some nights were very cold (down to 40 degrees) but there was no heat.
Our room was beachfront but located directly over the cocktail lounge and the pool / beach bar. From 10:00AM to 8:00PM everyday we were subjected to loud, obnoxious music. Some days we could not enjoy our balcony and had to go inside and close the doors in order to reduce the noise level.
We ate at the restaurant once - nothing special but not bad either.
If you like to sleep past 7:00AM, avoid the beachfront units. You will be awakened early by the noise from the beach concession operators starting up their jet skis and other machinery. The premium paid for the beachfront units is not worth it.

Clean, Stylish and Comfortable

I like the modern style through out the resort. My room was a 1 bedroom with a kitchen and living room area. It had a pull out couch. Every thing was very new looking and well decorated. They pay attention to detail. It reminded me of the cruise ship but nicer. The food at the pool deck was very good and not too much money.

I would recommend it to every one of all ages and backgrounds.

They have meeting rooms for events, meetings and weddings.

Overpriced, dirty, and incompent!

My new wife and I booked this hotel for one night so that we could stay over for the ferry to Key West to start our honeymoon. Thank God we just booked for that one night! The place was incredibly overpriced, dingy, dirty, and on top of everything else the woman who checked us in at the front desk was rude and completely incompetent. She kept insisting that we were staying for seven days and were from Ontario (we were from Florida and staying one night), Two days later, I had to interrupt my honeymoon to call and dispute a 350 dollar charge on my checking account that I had not authorized. The nasty manager who answered the phone argued with me for ten minutes before finally admitting it was the resort's fault, but I still had to jump through all kinds of hoops (while on my honeymoon) to take care of the problem. The room was subpar and dirty and the entire experience was miserable. I strongly suggest that guests look elsewhere.

Came to Ft. Myer area to look at real estate. Was only supposed to stay one night. Ventured down to Ft. Myers Beach just to look around and decided to stay another night. Found rate for Diamondhead on my mobile phone and my husband booked the room - just stayed one night but this is a fine hotel. Great room/suite, great pool, great location. Will go back.
