I stay at Shipwreck everytime I visit FMB. It's not on the beach, just one block away. Inexpensive with character. The trick I found is to stay in the motel, good size with a kitchen. What kept me comming back is not only the price but it is very clean.

Room Tip: Stay in the motel.

There is a good section and a bad section. There are nice people and there are the bad people. They do NOT know the meaning of customer service. I asked the owner John, if he was a manager or owner and he said no. I asked to speak to the bookeeper Debbie, I am still waiting for her call. I have been literally lied to with witnesses around and I am a Floridian who can give them alot of business, but they just dont care. Buyer beware!!! There store is great, there nice rooms are nice but noisy, just be really careful... Go 1 room at a night!

Room Tip: Go to another hotel.......

We went to the beach on 8/15 & 8/16 2012 for a surprise birthday for a friend. Heard it was a good enough place, but had never stayed there. Was impressed... The rooms were clean & smelled clean. Service was good for what we experienced. Staff was very nice & price was good. So for a short stay & location, it's a "Home Run"...!!!

Room Tip: Pool side!!!

We spotted The Shipwreck on our first visit to Ft. Myers Beach and decided that it was the place to stay while barhopping. It's clean, located on its own canal with a fishing dock and mini-marina, equipped with kitchenettes, and surprisingly quiet. There are two pools with tiki tables, one of which was like our own private patio. At $100 a night and within walking distance of the beach and Time Square, it was perfect for us! And despite some reviewers' complaints about rude service, everyone was cheerful and pleasant to us.

My friend and I booked a room for 4 nites and my son came down from Tally for 2 nites with his infant boy. Unfortunetly we booked it for the weekend the big storm was expected to come through.

We decided to go on with our little getaway anyway because if you are a Florida resident you know how it can rain for 20 minutes and then be sunny the rest of the day, well that was not the case on this weekend, we decided to stick it out for the first 2 days but it was not getting any better, so we asked for a refund for the last day and they were so rude and did not credit us for one day and we are from Fort Myers. I even asked for a manager but he/she was convienetly not in at the moment. They really screwed up on that because I will not recommend this motel to ANYONE. We have a boat and like to vacation for long weekends at our beaches and they just lost a very potentially good customer.

Not to mention how small the rooms were and the ants on the wall and the bed that was closest to that wall. My 8 month old grandson could hardly get out of his stroller because he wanted to crawl everywhere and it was storming and raining so much. We were forced to walk with him in the rain when it wasn't thundering because there was no room for him to crawl in the SMALL rooms and we had 3 rooms. They lost 3 good customers.

The location is great because it is by the water, the bars, the restaurant's, the beaches & shopping but the accomodations stink.

We stayed here for 3 nights in April 2012, originally booked 2 nights but enjoyed ourselves so much we stayed an extra night. We had a lovely room in a littel courtyard area by one of the pools. We hardly saw a soul when we were there so it was like having our own private swimming pool. The room was clean and bright, not very big but perfectly fine considering we spent most of our time outside. The location of the motel is excellent and we were pleasantly surprised to find a picturesque canal at the back of the motel. The check-in staff were great and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

We stayed in this motel for two nights which was acceptable but we would not recommend to stay there longer. The staff was not very friendly nor very helpful. The whole place was rather shabby but the room itself was ok. However, it was situated right next to crowded bars. There was no wifi. The floor was filthy but the bed and the bathroom were ok. We would not book this motel again.
