Generous portions of boiled potato pierogies and crisp potato pancakes, served with apple sauce and sour cream, transported me back to my Polish grandmother's rowhouse kitchen in Pennsylvania. Some in our party enjoyed meat dishes - there is no shortage of hearty choices on the menu. No meal here would be complete without the homemade apple struedel. For a change of pace, I had the imported plum streusel this time, which was a real treat. Good coffee, too! The server was attentive and the bill seemed small compared to the amount of food on the table. I will be back. Soon!

I am of German heritage, but cannot claim to be very experienced in authentic German or Austrian cuisine other than having a fondness for fairly mainstream items like sauerbraten, wursts, etc.

So, I write this review only as a person who enjoys the food at this establishment… not as a critical assessment on the authenticity of their schnitzel.

All that said, this was about the fourth time we’ve dined here and it was the same as every other time… simple, consistent and tasty.

“The House” (hmmm, why not “haus?”) occupies a slot in a non-descript strip mall. The décor is plain and spotless… appealing in a “kitschy” kind of way. The ever-present owner is friendly; the service is fast and efficient. This is “destination dining” in that you would likely not stumble across it. You know about it and you go there specifically for their schnitzel served precisely between 4:30pm and 8:30pm.

As the name implies, schnitzel is their specialty although they offer a few other things like wursts, goulash and cabbage rolls. On Saturdays (sometimes Fridays, in season), sauerbraten is available. I always have schnitzel, but my friend has had the sauerbraten (who is a big fan of this dish) and pronounced it very good.

The schnitzel here is pork, but you can have the veal version for a $4 up-charge. There are about 15 or so variations and you can choose anything from plain to sauced versions such as jaeger schnitzel. Every schnitzel I’ve enjoyed here comes out the same each time – pounded to a perfect thinness, tender and slightly crisp on the outside. A choice of two sides comes with the meal offering a range of complements from spaetzel to sauerkraut to apple sauce.

Bottom line, if you want a consistently good schnitzel experience without bells and whistles, this the place.

We come here every year and enjoy it every time. Very delicious food. I actually had spaghetti and meatballs, which is italian, but it has at least 20 different kinds of Schnitzel. It also has a cookoo clock.

Locals know it. Going there for years. Although we think of it as German cuisine, the owner and his wife are Austrian. The jaeger schnitzel is my favorite which is always available. Hubby likes the sauerbraten which is offered on certain days so call for their specials. And the goulash, also a special, falls apart. Soooo good.
Go early or you will wait. Has received excellent reviews in the local paper.
Yes, of course, beer is available as is wine.

YUM! If you like Schnitzzel, the real thing, this is the spot. We were there with group,of 6. Several had schnitzel w/ gravy, one with hollandaise sauce....one stuffed cabbage rolls. We were all tickled with our dinner. It was nice to have the owner at our table assuring everyone was happy. Food was sooooooo....good. As one in our group shared 'don't eat lunch' portions generous.
