“It's Very Good or Very Bad Depending on What You're Looking For”

It's a fun beachfront, tourist trap, food and drink, fishing pier, beach and sand hang out mish-mosh. Fun for adults and families. Lots of pay parking options, or a beach shuttle from mainland parking.

It's not nature, shelling, quiet beaches or relaxing. For that, head over to Sanibel Island.

“Skip it ~”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2012

Walked down here one night to take in the sunset. We've experienced Mallory Square in Key West and this was a sad comparison. There were a few street entertainers with no audiences. Shopping is unimpressive. We didn't eat here so nothing to say about that. Walked out on the pier, got a photo, and headed back to our hotel.

“Something for everyone”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2012

I wish I would have found this area earlier in my visit but my hotel was a little far from here. This area has all sorts of food and shops. It was nice to walk around and they even had some entertainment going on near the beach. The parking is a little hard but avoid the busy times to eliminate any issues!

“Fun ambiance around sunset”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 17, 2012

With live bands and performers this is a special place around sunset. Get on the pier to see the sun go down, then enjoy the lively ambiance at Time Square (it's calmer during the week).

“Busy tourist area near the Pier”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 14, 2012

There is a parking lot which fills quickly. The large Pier is a landmark on Ft. Myers Beach. The shops, hotels, cafe's, restaurants are typical tourist fare. It is an attraction, not to be confused with anything historical. The actual Times Square is quite an improvement. They usually have a large Christmas Tree and a New Year's Eve celebration. If you're staying in this area, there is a farmer's market on Friday Morning, 9-11 AM. Keep your children in sight because this is a VERY busy traffic area. Get your copy of the local island newspaper, The Island Sand Paper. It's a weekly that is free and gives you a real feel for the Island. This is a laid back area, so you do not have to dress up to the 9's. In fact you will probably look out of place if you wear heels or furs. Flip-Flops and floppy hats seem to be the norm. Enjoy the crowd, and then return to your quiet resort.
Lot's of things to see or do in Ft. Myers area.
