Several things to recommend the Neptune: It's close enough to the downtown Times Square area to walk there along the beach but far enough away that it's not crowded or noisy. Rooms are fine, not fancy but nice -- just what we needed for eight days. Very friendly and helpful staff. Lots of lounge chairs by the pools and beachside. You can walk two blocks to the grocery store to stock your kitchenette. Quiet enough -- we never heard neighbors' TVs. I would absolutely recommend it to friends, and plan to return again next winter.

Room Tip: Our second floor room overlooked the pool, but we could also see the Gulf from our window.

The Neptune Inn is by far the best place to vacation in Ft Myers beach. it is children, gender and ethnic friendly. The staff here are very well educated on great customer service. The sand is soft and white, feet from your hotel door, two heated swimming pools, workout room, two gas grills, shuffle board, free beach towels, bicycle rentals next door, beautiful palm trees for those who need a little shade.

Room Tip: All rooms are in a good location from sunrise to sunset.

My husband and I have stayed here two different times and both times out visits were great. The beach is big enough for all guests, very clean and private. We have stayed in both wings. The west wing has larger rooms than the east wing but not by very much. The rooms are also very clean.

The rooms are efficiency-rooms, meaning it has dishes, flatware, pots/pans, electric stove top, small refrigerator, microwave etc. You can do some grocery shopping if you are not interested in eating out or leaving the beach. If you go out and have left overs its nice to be able to take them along for later.

On our last visit their was two wedding parties staying. I expected to be kept awake during the evenings by the celebrators but I never heard them. From overhearing the discussions of the party go-ers the next days their were loud gatherings so I was much impressed. I think this speaks to the fact that the rooms must be very well insulated.

N.I. does not have a restaurant nor bar on site but restaurants, bars, and local shopping are all in walking distance. Times Square is a 10 minute walk down the beach and well worth it. With being farther down the beach it is very quiet and relaxing.

The two pools are both clean and big enough. I spent more time on the beach and in the gulf but have been in the pools too. Lounge chairs are locked up at night and unlocked again around 8 a.m. Shade is scarce so if you need it you will have to get up early to set a spot.

Last year we visited in the first weekend in May and to our surprise a local "taste" festival was taking place. It was only a few blocks down and easily in walking distance. It had great food in good sized portions, drinks (adult and family friendly), bands and a server relay competition (this was highly entertaining). Nice little festival if you are there at that time of year.

Some beach things I have learned that you may or may not be aware of. Live shelling is illegal, you can get in trouble or the signs say if you venture farther down the beach to see/read them. May-October is Sting Ray season so if you venture into the Gulf shuffle your feet to avoid stepping on one and possibly getting stung. They are the same color as the sand and hard to spot. If you get up early enough to see them, sometimes dolphins come inside the sand bar.

As a side note, remember to bring beach towels with as the rooms only offer the bathroom towels.

We have been going to the Neptune Inn for almost 10 years. We love the mid-beach location and the intimate feeling. It's like having your own private beach. You walk out and there it is! Lounge chairs are available FREE each day as are beach towels. The rooms are recently refurbished and include well appointed kitchenettes. A new exercise facility is also part of the recent renovation. Two outdoor pools (one heated), outdoor grills and shuffleboard are value-added amenities. Guest parking is included. We think this is the best value on the island.

Room Tip: We'll be back for sure. No restaurant on site, but great choices within walking distance, and s...

So far I have stayed at this Motel twice in two years and this time I brought my son and husband along. Everyone loved the beach, pools especially my son who tells all his friends in Canada that we stay in a " fun sunshine motel" when we visit Florida. My son is already begging me to go again this year, good value and a very clean place to stay. The grounds and pools and maintained everyday and I found the staff to be friendly each time I visit, I would def go again!

Room Tip: My second stay I had a room with a balcony right on the beach. it was fantastic!!
