This place is a dump. Don't be fooled by the pictures. This place looks rough from the outside and only gets worse as you enter for check in. The property is dirty, noisy and in desperate need of an upgrade. Staff at check in desk looked like they belonged outside a tattoo parlor.

Room Tip: Sleep in your car before staying here.

Upon entering the establishment you can see how run down and neglected the property is. Now mind you we are not very fussy people but the air conditioning units are so old and loud you can hardly hear each other talk. Not to mention mold on the bottom of the draw curtains by the balcony. The 2 maintenance guys were playing kick the cockroach outside of our hotel room in the hall. We could not stand it anymore and had to leave. The noise outside is so loud you cannot sleep. Forget about compensation, when we contacted management, he basically said. Oh well. There are many many nice and affordable places to stay in fort myers, we know we stayed at several but thought we'd give this one a try. Do your homework, we read bad reviews about this place but didn't believe them. This is no joke, stay far away from lani Kai.

Room Tip: There are none here

I wanted to start out making sure it is known that I didn't stay the night here, so I don't know about the rooms. I DO know this is the place on the island where everybody goes to party. If you're going to vacation with a family (younger kids), do not stay here! Even just getting ready for the wedding at 9 AM, there were young kids yelling profanities and vulgar language from their balconies. The beach at the resort is quite littered. The store underneath the hotel is not kid friendly by any means.

that said, the people who worked here were very friendly. They had a nice set-up for the wedding on the beach. My son and his wife were happy, and that's what's important.

Ok place! It was definitly great being on the beach, but the accomadations were just ok. No wi fi in the room, had to go to the office/lobby to do any emails. Price was right, so would probably go back. Location was close to the Time Square on the beach that had shops and restaurants. Location was great!

DIRTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have stayed here only once before, and we though it was a good deal. Let me just tell you, it is not worth it.

Check in: Actually we had a girl that was kind-of nice, which was a change from the first time when the lady was incredibly rude with no reason to be...I was too sick to be rude to her after going in the bathroom of the lobby to change and almost vomiting SMELLING THE THICK STENCH OF VOMIT. However, more recent time smelled not as strong. Still smelled though.

BOTH times we called upon making a reservation, asking for an early check-in if possible. BOTH times upon arriving, we asked for an early check in and BOTH times they said they would call when the room was ready.......BOTH times, no phone call. Not a big deal to be stranded on the beach, after all that's what we came for. HOWEVER I would expect my room to be clean......

Not clean at all. Thick dirt and film on the floor. Had to walk in flip flops the entire time to avoid touching the floor. Mold in the bathroom. Cold shower, hot water must be hard to come by? But we booked it for the view. The patio is the only good thing about the room. The rest I didn't want to touch. I thought the view would be enough but I can guaruntee I won't be back for that.

As for the bugs mentioned below, I didn't check under the mattress, but my boyfriend did come home with a lot of bites on him. There isn't a doubt in my mind there were bed bugs in there...the sheets didn't even feel clean. I don't even know how to explain it without getting sick to my stomach.

Locals also told us never to stay there. Now we know for sure.

Can we all just LOL about the family picture on their website, too?! If you've been here, you will understand. If you've seen "Spring Breakers" (which I don't reccommend) the hotels they stayed in were nicer than this....but those are the kind of people this hotel accomodates best. Too drunk to know what's going on.

The amentities with the hotel are nice, such as the rooftop bar/restaurant and happy hour. YOU CAN ENJOY THIS WITHOUT STAYING THERE. Just don't do it! Save yourselves!

Room Tip: Theres a club downstairs on the north side and a bar with live music on the roof. You can stay on th...

I just returned from the Lani Kai two days and let me start off by saying I had read reviews prior so I knew what I was getting into. Having only planned this trip a month in advance and not wanting to spend $300 or $400 a night, this was pretty much the only option and honestly, I still feel we overpaid. The location was amazing, right on the beach and within walking distances to restaurants, and the staff was friendly and accomodating. Those are about the only redeeming qualities. We arrived around 10:30 on a Thursday night and had a hard time finding a parking spot due to all the people there for the restaurant and bar. I was really frustrated they didn't have reserved spots for guests of the hotel. The elevators were incredibly slow and smelled like a mixture of stale vomit, smoke and body odor. The vents in the hall were old and rusted, there were chunks of concrete falling off the walls, there was water damage on the ceiling and the furniture in the room was outdated, vinyl, and uncomfortable. The bathroom, however, seems to have been updated recently. There was only one working light bulb on the bathroom vanity and only one mirror-most hotels these days have a bathroom mirror as well as a full length one elsewhere in the room. I was a little confused by the restaurant situation, they boast the Sundecker and the Island View, but we could only find the Sundecker, where we had breakfast all 3 days. The food was surpisingly good considering, but the staff was beyond slow. Overall, one of the worst places I've ever stayed but I did know what I was walking into so it wasn't a total shock to the system.

Where should I begin? The horrific vomit smell as you enter the resort? The filthy bathrooms? Oh wait, how about the stream of bugs crawling around on the nightstand and end table? Upon noticing the bugs, we quickly lifted up the mattress to find BUG TRAPS!?! While I packed up and gathered our children, my husband spoke to the manager stating we were checking out and wanted a refund. The manager was incredibly rude and said we took too long to notice the bugs and would not refund our money. He then told my husband they were at an impasse and walked away. Horrible customer service. Horrible hotel. Horrible experience. Horrible memory of Ft. Meyers Beach.

Room Tip: Was told, after the fact, by locals to NEVER stay at the Lani Kai.
