This was our 2nd stay here and we hope to return again next year. The staff is friendly and helpful, especially Tim. The beach is wonderful and the resort is very nice and relaxing. Happy hour at The Beached Whale has great Mussels and flatbreads, SOB (Smoked Oyster Bar) is another great place to eat. The trolley service to Times Square was the only disappointment as it was late.

We drove over to Ft Myers Beach, with no reservations for New Year's Eve, figuring we'd find something. We usually stay closer to the pier, but, nothing available. We had seen some vacancies coming in from the South, so, we started back down. One of the extended rental properties, sorry, can't remember which one, recommended that we check out the Sandpiper. So friendly and inviting! We lucked out, got the last room, which was on the second floor with two double beds, and VERY well-priced for anytime but especially for a holiday. They have two pools, one adult-only and a very nice coffee/tea bar, open almost all the time, and grills for your own cookouts, and shuffleboard. We did walk to the pier, about three miles, for the fireworks. Good exercise, but, bicycles would have been perfect. Bring your own, or, rentals available close by. Actually, if we stayed at the hotel, we would have had a perfect view for multiple fireworks displays. It ended up being great that our usual spots were full, found a wonderful option. Some updating would be nice, but, I love the islandy feel. We visit Ft Myers Beach almost every month. We will be sure to return to the Sandpiper.

This is a great resort with all the amenities you could want for a beach vacation, loved the beachfront ocean view 1st floor room. Angel at the front desk was so nice and friendly. The pool and courtyard area are perfectly clean and maintained it reminded us of a Disney resort! Would love to return for a quiet peaceful beach vacation. Thank you Sandpiper!

Room Tip: Beachfront, ocean view room

My grandmother and her other snowbird friends have stayed here for over 20 years, so I had many memories. I brought my husband and kids for our son's 16th birthday and we had a great time! Everything was awesome! Everything I remembered from visiting the snowbirds! The resort was clean and very secure. It is great to have the pool that over looks the beach. We stayed in a courtyard view room - grandma always stayed in poolside view. All of the rooms are GREAT no matter which one you choose. Beautiful white sandy beach, great heated pool, and excellent shelling! Excellent choice! We will be starting our own family tradition every year now by staying at the Sandpiper in December. Thanks ;)

Room Tip: All rooms are great!!!!!!!!

Again we had a beautiful stay at the Sandpiper, At the 2. day we had a problem, which was solved directly(within 2 hours) Compliments to staff -Angel, who offered us a beachfrontroom as an alternative, We have been here now for several years and we still loved this place.
We have a suggestion: It would be nice as management decide to refresh the rooms, after all the British West Indies design (2004) needs some changes

We have been staying at the Sandpiper a couple times a year for some time now. We've stayed in all of the buildings. This time we stayed in the Tower because it was advertised as handicap accessible since I am now using a walker. This is a misnomer for several reasons--only a few handicap parking spaces (usually taken), no shower chair, no seat or vanity stool at the bathroom sink to name the more glaring ones. It is still a lovely place with a great view from our large balcony, but we'll have to look elsewhere next time. If you are healthy and mobile this fine--if not. well..... Also is there no ice machine in the Tower. Our freezer barely worked and this was very inconvenient.

The Sandpiper Gulf Resort is an excellent choice for a beach vacation! Its all about the location. The resort is directly on great strip of white soft sugar sandy beach (and the building is very near the water, so you are not walking 1/4 mile every time you go back to your room). When we were there in early December, we were treated to wild dolphins playing and feeding near shore every day, with pelicans swooping and diving for fish all around... very fun to watch. Beach umbrella and 2 chairs can be rented for $13/day, and jet skis are also on property for rent at $79/hr for resort guests. There are also jetski dolphin tours that run from there. Weather was in the 80s nearly every day, so we enjoyed the 2 pools as well as the gulf.

The property is a little older but nicely maintained and clean. Room was plenty for 2, and would be adequate for 4, crowded for 6. Full fridge was nice and 2 burner electric stove was fine, toaster and cooking/eating utensils provided. Nice balcony from which to view sunsets. BBQ and shuffleboard free for use, and refreshed pool/beach towels were available for the taking. Complimentary coffee was available every morning near the lobby.

The resort is 'mid-island' and quiet, though the hot spot section is only about 2 miles north up the strip if you want lots of restaurants and bars. There is a Publix grocery store only 1 mile away to stock up your fridge, and a CVS pharmacy 1 mile to the south. There is no restaurant or fitness center on site, but the resort partners with The Pink Shell resort on the very north end of the island for those things... a little inconvenient if you are used to using fitness machines for your workout. I chose to walk/run the beach instead.

Fort Myers Beach is great for relaxing, but keep in mind if you want mall shopping or a big theater you'll need to drive 30-40 minutes.

I would recommend this resort as a good value and will certainly consider returning.
