We had a miserable stay here. Our in-laws booked a 2-bedroom suite. It was supposed to be non-smoking, but we opened the door and the place reeked of cigarettes. The office gave us a fan to help the smell, but it never went away. It didn't help that the room was also stuffy and humid.
The "suite" was very small. It was not filthy, but definitely not clean. It included a small kitchen and two bathrooms. The living room consisted of a loveseat and rocking chair. Not comfortable for five people to hang out in. The bed sheets were cheap and scratchy.
We stayed out as late as we could (we had a five-year-old with us) to avoid returning to the room, but eventually we got tired. We should have stayed out longer. The Tiki Bar downstairs had karaoke going ALL NIGHT. For hours, we listened to people singing terribly and loudly. The bar didn't close until the early morning.
When it was finally quiet, it was still difficult to sleep given the stench and the uncomfortable bed.
We considered leaving in the middle of the night, but ended up checking out first thing in the morning.
I guess there are two pools here. One was closed during our visit. The one that was open did not look clean or family friendly. It was surrounded by people smoking and drinking.
Parking is also a challenge here. You may find yourself a ways from the elevator, dragging your luggage through the Tiki Bar.
Our in-laws dined at the Tiki Bar on a Sunday. They said they were given a full menu. When they went to order they were told they were only serving three items.
I always try to come up with something nice to say about a place, but I find myself challenged to think of anything good about the Lighthouse other than that it's in a decent location to Fort Myers Beach and the nearby restaurants.
This is a misuse of the word "resort". It was at best a cheap motel. We left and went to the Sanibel Harbour Marriott Resort and Spa. It was recently remodeled, had very reasonable rates and was a true resort.

Room Tip: If you stay here, request a room as far away from the Tiki Bar as possible. Otherwise you will be aw...

I appreciate the feedback, and take all issues to heart and try to improve our product for the next guest's experience.

The case of the rooms being non smoking. All the rooms are non smoking, and when we find someone has stayed in a room that was smoked in, they are charged a cleaning fee. Unfortunately some people are more sensitive than others when it comes to smoking, we do our best to make it better, including using an ionizer, but sometimes the only way to remove the smell is time. I think this stay was on a Friday night since Karaoke was mentioned, so we may not of had another Two Bedroom Suite available to relocate you to that night. Also by the sound of the review, you stayed, or part of your party stayed through the weekend, as you mentioned an issue getting food on Sunday.

As for the food available on Sunday. We have our menus on the tables at all times. On Sunday afternoons, because of football, we have a Tailgate BBQ. We have 7 or 8 items that we cook out on a grill in our courtyard, we also offer pizzas, wings, & nachos from our kitchen. It is a very popular destination for football watchers from all over our area, as we have all the games, along with contests and giveaways during the day, for the football fan, its an event!

Parking at this resort is difficult at times. Being a beach resort with suites, we get a lot of multi family bookings where more than one car is used to come here. And the popularity of the Tiki Bar at times creates a premium on parking. During times when we anticipate these premiums, we have a lot attendant to keep an eye on things and to help guests find a place to park, but it sometimes means that you will not be able to park directly next to where the room or elevator is. This is an issue I personally have experienced as well at hotels I have stayed at.

I believe that the Lighthouse Resort gives the amenities that one looks for when they want to come to a beach style resort; Key west style colors, lush tropical landscaping, two pools, tiki bar with breakfast, lunch, dinner, live entertainment and functions, suites with full kitchens, economy rooms for those on a budget, and across the street from the beach and all of its activities.

Sanibel Harbor Resort is a Gorgeous resort, and I am sure that reasonably priced is in the eye of the beholder as you most certainly will pay a lot more for a nice motel room with two beds there versus a nice suite here that will accommodate up to 6 people. Plus you must drive to everywhere you want to be versus being able to walk to all the activities that Ft Myers Beach has to offer.

We used to stop once a year an evening in Fort Meyers Beach. Usualy we slept at Lani Kai, but it is realy up to date. This time we try the Lighthouse resort. It was a good surprise. The room was large, nice, overlooking the pool with a large balcon on the third floor. We parked just in front of the elevator, it was very convenient. The beach and the restaurants are just across the road. The price also was good. I will come back.

The Lighthouse Resort Inn and Suites is in a great location in Ft. Myers Beach, right under the Matanzas Bridge, and just a five minute walk to the best family beach around. The Inn is set up with hotel rooms and small buildings, their kitchenette rooms, set around the property. There are at least two pools, not too large, a waterfall, and a fun Tiki Bar with lots of tvs to watch sports and a hot spot to go on online. Our room was clean and the kitchenette had a sink, microwave, fridge, burners on the stove and a coffee pot. The hotel neighborhood is called "under the bridge" and has lots of restaurants, bars, and little stores within half a block. Walking to the beach is a snap and don't forget to go for the sunset.

Room Tip: The numbering system is very confusing, so make sure you really look at the hotel map to find your b...

TheThe tiki bar is great and their food is very good, but the British bartender was snobby and condescening. We questioned something about the food and got a sarcastic remark. And then ignored us the remainder of our stay that day. Didnt want to go back if she was working again. Rooms were not cleaned till after 4 pm. Maids didnt speak English. Ads stated there was free wi-fi but found out it was only in two hot spots. One in the office and one near the bar.

My husband and I have been staying at The Lighthouse Resort for the last 17 years. We are never disappointed. When we first started going to Ft Myers Beach, the family owned property was much smaller, with only one pool. All these years later, it is probably 3 times the original size with 2 outdoor pools and a great Tiki Bar right on the property. The owners still run a tip top resort with full amenities. It is centrally located and the beach is right across the street. The rooms are always clean and fully loaded with towels, (extra towels upon request), and updated materials on current attractions on Ft Myers Beach, Sanibel, Naples, Captiva, Bonita Springs. There are also many kindness extended to the guests. For example, the personnel at the front desk prints out our boarding passes for our return flight. They also have been very nice about letting us check in early and sometimes check out late. I strongly recommend the Lighthouse to anyone vacationing on Ft Myers Beach.

Room Tip: A bit away from the location of the Tiki Bar. There is musical entertainment at night.

The place is very nice and the staff is terrific. Unfortunately the Tiki Bar is very successful so if you check in on Sunday, it is difficult to find a parking space when football is on the TV. Also be aware that the bar is open until 2am and if you have a poolside room, you may be woken by loud people at the bar during the night. Ask for a room in a different building and you will be quite happy.
