“Dophins in the bay!”
Reviewed April 14, 2013

This was a really cool preserve to check out. It was really cool seeing all the plants and wildlife. We saw dolphins hanging around the bay and a raccoon in the mangroves. It's a great way to spend your morning! The trails were great!

“Fun place that no one thinks of”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

Mantanzas pass is a fun walk that very few regular visitors to the island even think of. It is a wonderful nature walk. The view of the back bay at the end makes it well worth the short walk thru the mangroves. Boardwalks are well kept up and there is plenty of free parking. Just one word of warning, the maps of the trails are not that well marked. Stray off on the wrong path and you can circle for well over a half mile. But that only adds to the adventure. Kids would like this attraction to wear off their energy. Couples will like it because it is romantic and mostly private.

Live music was great. The band sounded better than the actual artists!!! The view was nice of the water and our baby slept through all of the music.

“Very nice peaceful place to walk.”
Reviewed February 23, 2013

This park is a very nice, peaceful, and quiet place to walk through the mangroves and out to the intercoastal waterway. There are mile(s) of boardwalks and a pier. It's a place to see natural Florida native habitat, plants, birds, butterflies, etc. Bicycles are not allowed. There is a porta-potty at the entrance.

“Glimpse of original authentic Florida”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

Use common sense..... if it is bug season, you will be eaten alive by mosquitoes and alike. If it is high tide or after a rain, it will likely be wet. That is the obvious. This is the REAL Florida before developers came in and made it comfy for us with all the perks. If you want to see what the island was like for the Calusa Indians, this is the way to go. Being a small passive preserve, you have just enough hiking to get the idea. By far the best way to view it is with a guided tour. Very informative! There is no way you can even remotely have any appreciation of this wonderful preserve without the guided tour. Very special little gem. Keep in mind, this is the real deal, not a man-made tourist attraction.
