“$1 Bloody Mary's & Margs & $1 tacos”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

Sundays are our favorite day on the beach and we always start off at the Surf Club. Bruce is the owner and runs a great place. Whether you dine inside or out, the food and service is awesome.

Sat on the outside deck and local band was playing , the Surf club has a friendly local feel to it . The service was great and they serve food late which makes a change for the beach . The food is good value and amazing quality, had Sea food gumbo with rice, and garlic bread it was fantastic . My wife had meat loaf sandwich Which was good to . “Great food and fair prices”
Reviewed May 15, 2013

Ate here 3 times during our 4 day stay. Their Cuban sandwich, meatloaf, and hamburger were all great and well priced. The waitstaff is friendly and you can enjoy your meal outdoors under some nice trees or inside with air conditioning. The clientele seem a little more laid back and not as crazy or obnoxious as other eateries in the area. I highly recommend them for lunch or dinner.

“Everyone loves the Surf... And it's "ground zero" for the Turkey Testicle Festival”
Reviewed May 8, 2013

This little island just wouldn't be the same without the Surf Club. Locals, locals everywhere... from the Mayor to wee babes.

The food is very good and the menu is surprising. Bruce, the owner, loves New Orleans, and he serves up the best gumbo this side of the Big Easy. In fact, they offer both Seafood Gumbo and Smoked Rabbit Gumbo! There are items on the menu that you just can't get anywhere else... like "Duck Tenders", "Skirt Steak Tacos", and being from Chicago originally, Bruce guarantees you will not find a better "Chicago Dog", and he's right. And you never know what's going to pop up on the "Specials" menu.

The meatloaf is oral-gasmic. The shrimp are fresh and wonderful Pink Gulf Shrimp (he wouldn't serve anything else!) right off the shrimp boat. The Grouper is delectable. The Angus sliders are the best in town. Everything is really, really good. Gotta try the home made "Surf Chips", too.

And then, there's the "Turkey Testicle Festival". OMG... just wait. It's on the weekend before Thanksgiving. They serve up these little fried balls of wonderfulness, along with the best turkey sliders ever, all day long. If you're in town, don't miss this... and get the T-shirt, too.

Also, every Sunday is a tradition here on the island called "Church at the Surf". You would be surprised at the turn-out and the people who treat themselves after real Church to their famous $1. Bloody Marys.

The Surf Club is like our very own "Cheers"... and Bruce's heart is as big as can be. He's always ready to help the community...always.

Oh... BTW. I saw a post about smoking. The Surf used to be across the street where the Mermaid Club is. That's a true bar, no food, and smoking is permitted inside. It's owned by another member of Bruce's family.

There is also an outside deck, and local artists are featured regularly. Hopefully, someday soon, the waterfront area will be finished and you will be able to come by boat. It's just such a happy place...And a fantastic place to "people watch".
