My mother and I decided to do this at the last minute, as we noticed it on our first day at Fort Myers Beach when we were coming out of Nervous Nellies after lunch and it looked like fun. The boat has upper seating on plastic chairs and the full bar with a very friendly bar tender. The seating downstairs is at tables and is enclosed. There is no drink service downstairs. After a brief tour of the Bay where we saw a few dolphins and learned about the shrimping fleet and some history of the area, we headed towards Sanibel Island and the lighthouse and watched a lovely sunset where there was plenty of time for pictures, and the captain made sure that all sides of the boat got a chance to enjoy the views. They also stopped to pull up one of their stone crab traps (apparently they only do that once a week, so that was interesting). After that, they cranked up the party music (think Electric Slide, Macarena, etc) and cruised around between Sanibel and Fort Myers Beach for about 30 minutes or so. Unfortunately, since we decided to take this trip on a spur of the moment, we really weren't properly dressed for the much cooler evening air temps, so we stayed downstairs the better part of the trip. If you're not into dancing and drinking (it was not a rowdy "booz cruise" crowd-everyone on the upper deck was just having a lot of fun) the ride back seems a bit long. About half of the passengers were down in the lower deck looking like they were all ready to get home.
Overall, it was a nice way to start our mini vacation, but make sure that you're dressed for the cooler evening weather and be prepared to either dance/party or be somewhat bored as there isn't anything to see once the sun sets.
