This is a quiet beach away from the hustle and bustle of Ft. Myers beach. No traffic noise or music. Great for walking and shelling. Take the tram out to the south beach, where there is also a shaded pavilion and BBQ grills. Rangers and volunteers are very knowledgable and helpful. There are kayaks available for rent at three locations, and food at south beach. Also 2-3 miles of hiking/biking trails and bike rentals.

I'll start with our first visit... we chose to kayak and paddle board from Lovers Key. The staff were very helpful in helping us choose which area to depart, since they had three different options. Our kids had never used a paddle board before and with the lesson they received by your staff, they had no trouble maneuvering through the water. When we traveled the canal area, we saw dolphins and multiple manatees. The manatees even traveled along with us. It was a great trip.
After kayaking, my husband and I returned to the beach for a beautiful sunset and some amazing shelling!
Our second visit consisted of taking the tram to the beach. It was such a convenience to travel by tram! The water was wonderful. The kids really enjoyed shelling but even more, they enjoyed the ice cream on the beach. Beach side concession was an unexpected bonus! The bathroom was clean. The gazebo on the beach was a pleasant surprise too. Our family really enjoyed our two trips to Lovers Key!

Side note: bug repellant is a must if you are going to stay until sunset!

Ok beach but so many in area are so much better. This one seemed to have dirtyish water ( post storm?) was too breezy ,water was nearly hot and you were supposed to take a tram from the parking lot but we walked over two bridges o get o the beach. Maybe the tram takes one o a nicer part of the beach? Bathrooms were not on necked to a sewer...ie outhouse like and in the heat it was ifu cult o stay in the building to hange or use the facilities.

I had to convince my husband to pay the $8 entrance fee to check out this beach because it received good reviews. I did appreciate the tram that takes you to the south part of the beach because 1000 ft walk seemed too much for us to schlepp an umbrella, chairs, skim boards, etc. Yes, it is less crowded but not your powder white sand. I've noticed the further south of Siesta Key the sand is more compact with shells. There are showers and bathrooms but no concession. I think I'll pass on this one.
