I cannot say enough good things about Lover's Key Beach....the place was spotless, interesting and very quiet. The ride into the mangrove and all the nature around you is beautiful and breathtaking. I cannot wait to go back! Great for families and couples.

My husband and I, along with my Son, Daughter-in-law and our three grandchildren, live in Naples Fl. We love the Naples beaches and frequent them several times a month. We have been to Barefoot Beach and Bonita Beach, but always find ourselves back at the Naples beaches. Today we decided to experience a different beach, namely Lovers Key State Park. We had heard some good things and some not so good things about Fort Myers beaches, and so we decided to investigate. To say the least all of us, including our grandchildren, were not impressed. The ride there was absolutely beautiful. You ride over two bridges overlooking waterways on both sides. Once you arrive the parking and signs to the various attractions, are very confusing. After we parked, we started to walk in the direction of what we thought was the beach. When we finally figured out which way to go, it turned out to be a 15 minute walk from where we parked. There is a tram that will take you to South beach, but when the main parking lot is full, you still have the long walk to the closer beach. To add insult to injury, there is a parking fee. Eight dollars per car carrying two or more persons and four dollars per car for just one person. Was it worth it? No. Would any of us go back? No. Give me Naples Beaches, which to me and many, many others, are 10 times more beautiful, 10 times cleaner and for people who live in Colliar County, free parking with a beach tag. Even if you are visiting, there are meters that are much more affordable. Lovers Key? Sorry, I didn't fall in love.

Hidden near the busy Ft Myers Beach area is a beautiful beach and state park: Lovers Key State Park! Very picturesque and quiet with tram service from the parking lot. On the property you can also obtain food, rent kayaks, and use the facilities. This gem is worth the trip!

Loved Lovers Key. Got up one morning and drove there and took trolley to a beach site. The beach was great, shells were plentiful, and lots of birds. The staff was very friendly. Would go back.

We popped over to Lovers Key Park for a few hours just to see what we could see. Although we got a little turned around at first with which entrance to use (North if you just wanna walk in for a beach area, South if you wanna drive in with central access to everything) we did get settled and were able to check out the main beach and the Black Island Trail. There is some wonderfull shelling to be had between the boardwalk and the beach itself...mounds of them to sort through if you're so inclined. However on a hot day we would recommend taking the tram to the beach. Very convenient. And the pavilion is the perfect spot for a picnic lunch!

The Black Island Trail was a great little hike full of local plants and wildlife. We saw several butterflies and small lizards in the butterfly garden area and a mama alligator and her three babies in the 'pond'. Although bike rental is available we were very happy to have walked the trail instead...a lot of little details would have been missed otherwise.
We would definitely return to Lovers Key.
