Bayfront Bistro was a little difficult to find, as it was located in the back part of the Publix parking lot off Estero Blvd. You have the choice of dining inside or outside upstairs or outside downstairs.
My wife and i choose to dine upstairs on the terrace for a romantic dinner and view.
We first ordered a glass of red wine, then my wife ordered the Bistro Salad to be accompanied by the filet Mignon and i ordered the Ribeye steak. We enjoyed our dinner and the view of the boats dock and water. It was very relaxing and enjoyable night.

Well, if your wealthy or want to impress someone and want to show them that you have money to throw away, this is the place. I was extremely disappointed in my ala carte order of scalloped potatoes. The potatoe pattie was the size of an oreo cookie, 2 nibbles,$6.00. Wine, 4 sips, $15.00, bottle of wine ($8.00 @ a liquor store) $40.00 Needless to say that we will not be going back. John J

If you didn't know about this place, you would never find it !! Estero Bay comprises a lot of islands connected by a road system with water often on both sides. First impressions are hardly inspiring--at the end of the parking lot of a Publix supermarket -- but actually located overlooking wonderful waterside houses and a beautiful marina. The restaurant is ls situated upstairs to maximise the lakeside views . Superior decor and menu to the norm . Quality food served by well trained waiting staff. Not expensive at all compared to inferior competitors. Not huge portions either--which is a bonus in the USA not a criticism. Busy that evening with what seemed like an appreciative clientele . We will return on our next visit to the sunshine in Naples Florida.

This was our last ever visit to what once was our favourite restaurant on FMB. We have dined there many times since it opened but this time everything was horribly wrong. The first clue should have been that we could get in without a reservation! My husband had the Bistro Vegetarian Rolls which were burnt, very greasy and totally inedible. Surely if you are claiming a "Bistro" dish it should be made fresh and not bought in frozen as these obviously were. His entree of Clams was tastless and unseasoned - surely the "chef" should taste the food before sending it out. I had the overcooked Grouper with the undercooked beans. Awful. Our server seemed obllivious to the fact that we had hardly touched our food, given that we had already sent back the Bistro Rolls (which she did take off our bill) blithley asking if we had a good time. I know it was not her fault that the food was so bad but she didn't seem at all bothered either. I didn't know until a previous posting that there has been a change of ownership but that does not excuse the appalling food., and the little things that one does not expect at a fine dining restaurant - paper table cloths, large coke glasses for cocktails - hardly classy is it? I would not recommend this place to anyone anymore despite the lovely setting. Oh, and to top it all there was a table of drunks screaming and shouting (more suited to the north end of the island I imagine) and the staff did nothing to quiten them down for the benefit of other diners.

We've been frequent diners at Bay Front Bistro since its introduction a few years ago. Food and service have always been well above average. Not so last night. It's now under new ownership and something is wrong.

After ordering $11 and $16 small wines (no bargains here), we waited seemingly forever to be served simple meals of Ceasar salad with salmon. When served, the greens were soggy, the salmon bland - visibly plain without signs of seasonings, not to mention overcooked, tough and barely warm. It is apparrant they sat around for a while.

After stating our disappointment, new salmon was delivered on a bare plate - not a total re-presentation of the dish. We "forked over" the old salmon on the delivery plate to the manager that delivered the replacement. This time the salmon was hot, but again overcooked, tough, dry and lacking any taste of just coming off the grill and any seasoning. Perhaps the salmon is pre-grilled and sent to a microwave for re-heating?

The waitress did her best to be pleasant, polite and accommodating and she lost no points (or tip) from us. Unfortunately management and the kitchen did not give her much support in the product served. The poor food totally negated the otherwise wonderful view of the bay from the outside patio.

We were offered free dessert though we were not interested, alternately at our request, 2 wines were taken off the bill. Nice gesture, but it can't replace a Friday night dinner with friends that will be poorly remembered.
