The hotel is very conveniently located to soooo much- restaurants, a great mall, outlets, all the things you would need within 3 minutes. The staff was extremely warm, kind, willing to accommodate all needs immediately. Their service was great and it made it easy not to notice the areas that were a bit run down. They were in the process of upgrading areas and rooms.
Due to the price, I wasn't expecting to find some of the optional but nice-to-have amenities such as facial tissue, full-length mirror, hair dryer, fridge, microwave, etc. I was extremely, pleasantly surprised. They even had a vault in the room to store valuables. It was all included in the price. The bathroom was all nicely tiled with a large tub and updated shower. These little things really made a big difference, now that I am able to compare with other hotels I've stayed in.
They had a nice size pool and a beautifully landscaped area around it with tropical flowers and a shaded hut area with game tables. Even though they were right on the major road, this area was secluded in a way where you had complete privacy, quiet and tons of sunshine. Some of the guests including myself just sunbathed right there instead of going to a beach.
The breakfast every morning was grande with lots of variety: fresh fruits, hot items, excellent quality coffee (not watered down). I don't typically eat breakfast but always looked forward to saying hello to the morning staff at breakfast time and getting the coffee that they made rather than making my own in the room.
The location was IDEAL! So convenient- I got totally spoiled. Overall- a very good experience with staff that makes you feel like family.
Nina

The room was clean and the furnishings were in good condition. It was conveniently located and in a commercial area, close to restaurants and shopping.

I took an extra couple of days after a seminar to sight-see and wanted to keep the cost down. This was the most reasonably priced hotel I could find in the area with decent traveler reviews. For my intended visit to Sanibel Island, this was conveniently located, it was clean, a very large room and very reasonably priced.

This place has a grand lobby which welcomes the guest. The rooms are spacious and are well appointed. There is a desk chair as well as an upholstered chair. While the rooms looked nice, there were signs of age -- like electrical sockets that were loose and unreliable, and worn plumbing fixtures.

You do not get to park close to your room, because this is a hotel, not a motel. That is not a big deal unless you have two dozen things in the trunk that need to go in like I did. There are 2 floors, and no elevator. The stairs going up are narrow and require squeezing by other guests.

Breakfast was included in my rate. It was a starchy breakfast - bread, muffins, rolls, and cereal. They also had apples & oranges, but no eggs, cheese, nuts, bacon, meat, or yogurt.

There is a shared computer and printer in lobby. The computer is their "business center". It was an old model which would have been fine, except that the copy of MS Office 2003 was not functioning because it had not been validated with a licence key. The computer is OK for simple tasks like printing a boarding pass. But if you have an MS Word document that needs to be printed, you're screwed.

There is free WiFi and it is speedy. The connection itself is not encrypted, but after connecting, you need to enter a password. Unfortunately at seemingly random times the session expires without telling you. You might discover this when you notice that you haven't received any emails for a while. Then you have to re-enter your password. This is annoying, especially for your smartphone. What are they worried about - that some scallywag off the street is going to hide in the bushes stealing their Internet signal?

When I checked out, they added a $1 per day "service charge" that had not been agreed to. It is not much, but I left thinking I had been gypped.

Next time I will stay with the La Quinta next door where I have stayed before. They have not levied unauthorized fees and are a better choice for other reasons as well.
