La Quinta Inn & Suites Ft. Myers - Sanibel Gateway

For what this is (a HoJo like motel on a busy road), La Quinta works well. Rooms are not outstanding, but are spacious and with comfortable beds and large bathrooms. Very clean, and very well-priced (I booked on Expedia). Walls between rooms are very thin; you'll not want noisy neighbors.

Conveniently located if you wish to go to Sanibel/Captiva/Fort Myers Beach.

Breakfast is included in the room rate; it's better than I anticipated. Free wifi is included as well. In all, a really good deal.

If you are looking for a cheap place to stay in the vicinity of Sanibel, this place gets top marks.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel, or facing into the swimming pool in the courtyard, are the most quie...

My friend and I stayed at the La Quinta Inn for 3 nights and boy am I glad we didn't stay for any longer because there is really not much to do besides go to the pool, hot-tub and bar. The bar only has drinks, and some appetizers, otherwise you would have to go to the only 2 restaurants around. The only other thing to do around there is shop at Tanger Outlet. If you have an automobile, then you're better off. As far as the room goes, it was clean, and with modern decor. There are flat screen TV's with cable, olympic-sized pool, and a nice continental breakfast! Overall, I would never return there again!!

I was lucky to choose this hotel, since the tropical setting surrounding it made it seem like an island, plus great pool and spa tub, and 1/4 mile away was the beautiful Bunche beach that was ideal for walking and good bird watching. A super breakfast and very good housekeeping service made my visits to Lovers Key and Sanibel a visit worth the time I spent for four nights ( before visiting Siesta Key)..

Room Tip: I prefer first floor which is not facing pool.

My husband and I visited Fort Myers for a short weekend getaway. The hotel was OK. It was clean (not old like some of the others) and close to what we were interested in doing. Nice pool area, although we didn't need to use it, but everyone there seemed to be enjoying themselves. It's a good place to stay on a low budget.

I was surprised though that the bathroom counter doubles as the coffee counter, although it was a large L-shaped counter and big enough. I just didnt like the idea that I had to wait on my husband to finish making his coffee before I could use the bathroom. We couldn't even take the coffee maker out because it was attached via a plastic strap to the wall.

The free breakfast was Ok, but the usual - hardboiled eggs, make-your-own-waffle, bagel, muffin, coffee orange juice, applejuice, and of course, coffee. Oh yes, fresh apples and yogurt. There were many happy guests buzzing around for breakfast so it was well utilized. Also, it was nice to see that they had a bar there which seemed to be open for guest to hang out in the evenings (we went out to eat so I'm not able to comment much on the bar, but it looked like a nice hangout spot if you didn's wish to leave the hotel). Like I said, it's a good inexpensive place to spend the night if you want to save your money for other things on your vacation.

Room Tip: Dont get an end room. We stayed in 257 and could hear people talking as they walked by. It wasn'...

Have stayed at this property on and off for about 10 years, always in the summer. Stayed here w/family in early April and was a bit wary, fearing chaos from "Spring Breakers"! Not the case. The good: Firm beds, great pillows, very clean,HUGE bathroom. T.V. had a couple of premium cable channels, nice when thunderstorms hit at night & we just wanted to chill in our room. Pool is fantastic, very large, and heated to 88* - wow! Also, a very large hot tub. Breakfast was standard, make-your-own waffles, hard-boiled eggs, and tons of carb food (not so great on protein). The woman in the breakfast area didn't slow down for a minute, even when we got there pretty late, she was still stocking the food. Front desk staff great. Great pool area w/bar open at night, but didn't check that out. Table tennis was a lot of fun, also, laundry room on premises. Super close to Sanibel Island and outdoor outlet mall. Housekeeping was great, we asked for extra blankets & other items, they were delivered quickly and with a smile. The not so good: where are the toilet lids? Very weird, and was always nervous about dropping something in there! You have to pay extra to get a microwave & refrigerator in your room, that is something they started doing a couple of years ago, so we weren't too happy about that, but got a great rate by waiting til the last minute to book online w/ AAA discount You can't beat the rates-we refuse to spend the ridiculous amount that Sanibel hotels charge. This is a great alternative to staying on the island.

Room Tip: Ask for quiet area & they will do their best to accommodate you.
