“Beautifully decorated for Christmas”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

We practically had the tour to ourselves. The gentleman seemed quite versed in the family history and conditions of the home during early settling. Each room was decorated in a different theme -very nucely done. I think a little more care to find original period furnishings would make it perfect. The lsocation on the river is beautiful. Used a lot for weddings which I would imagine are lovely. Worth the price of admission.

“Wow! How beautiful during the Holidays”
Reviewed December 19, 2012

Nothing like lots of lights and having it warm to discover this beautiful part of history. Right on the river too.

“check the web before going”
Reviewed December 13, 2012

The home is often used for weddings and other private functions.

This was the case on 12 December and so it was not open to the public.

It did NOT say it was closed on the website. Fair enough, no tour was scheduled for that morning as with other mornings that week. It would have been more useful to have indicated that it was closed that morning.

It was open that evening but we needed to be elsewhere by then

“Historical Florida home”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

This is one of the very few homes in the Fort Myers area that is open to the public and retains many original features from the era. The tour is well narrated and gives you sufficient historical information to really enjoy the home. Check the website for days the tours are given. Especially nice to go here at Christmas time!

“Buyer Beware”
Reviewed December 1, 2012

Ever since I was a teenager I had imagined getting married at the Burroughs Home. My dream came true in 2010. The home and property are absolutley amazing. But the event coordinator was awful! She made the entire process more stressful and tried to force me into using vendors that i did not want to, and spoke badly about other approved vendors for the site. On the day of the wedding she was not friendly to the guests. She is not representative of the class that the Burroughs Home should have.
