There are not a ton of outdoor activities in and around Fort Myers unless you like golf, so we were pleased to see good reviews about the 'slew' (thanks for the pronunciation guide, as we figured this could have been pronounced about seven different ways). We went on a cool January morning and were not disappointed. We took a 9:30 am tour with Mary and she was wonderful. Very knowledgable, funny, and down to earth. We took a leisurely stroll along the boardwalks and she pointed out all sorts of interesting plant and animal life. This was a great way to spend a couple of hours on a day that wasn't exactly beach weather. Not incredibly exciting, unless you are interested in nature and intermittent wildlife sightings.

Nice free outing (you do have to pay for parking-only a dollar an hour) with a great visitor center. Beautiful boardwalk trail. My children where very engage in trying to spot all the different animals that make the preserve their home. We also enjoyed the wild little piggies.

Boarded walkway with excellent viewing points. You may not see any gators but there are an abundance of birds and other wildlife. recommended

While this was not very exciting, it was a nice way to spend an afternoon, and a nice walk. We didn't see a lot of wildlife, but we did enjoy what we saw. Our favorite was the mama pig and about five babies, all different colors. They were right next to the boardwalk snuffling through the mud. We also saw an osprey, ibis, egrets, owl, alligator and turtles. Also nice that it was so inexpensive.

No fees and Parking is only $1/hour. The friendly lady at the info welcome center did the interactive tour for my 2 kids. How nice!

It has a nice trail of slightly over 1 mile. Saw crane catching and swallowing fish, and wild mama & baby pigs. I am surprised that we do not get any bug bites.

Did not see the famous alligator Big Al though.
