We LOVE the six Mile Cypress Slough. Miles of boardwalk that is virtually free and you don't know what is around the next corner! Gators, birds, foliage, fauna snakes, +++ Wonderful couple of hours of tranquility within the city. A must visit!

You could drive 1 1/2 hours south to Everglade City and spend a lot of money on air-boat rides or go here and see the same wildlife for free. You just want to time your visit so that the alligators will be out of the water and sunning themselves. Plenty of of interesting turtles and birds as well.

This is part of the Lee County Parks. It is less than a 15 minute drive to the RSW (Fort Myers Airport). If you are trying to find something to do close to the airport that won't cost a lot but will provide some GREAT last minute memories and photos head to this park. It is a board walk that is just over a mile if you do the entire loop or you can just do half of the loop if you take the cut off. We spent about an hour and a half at a leisurely pace of walking and stopping to look at each of the overlooks. The only thing you pay is $1 per hour to park. This was $2 well spent. There are also volunteers that can help point out animals, reptiles, birds etc.

If you're looking for nail- biting excitement, then this place isn't for you. What it is, is a peaceful relaxing boardwalk highlighting the beautiful natural world of southwest Florida. You pay a minimal amouny for parking and then enjoy the boardwalk at your leisure. The guides obviously love what they do and are there to answer any questions you may have. A must see if you like nature and tranquility.

Our group of 6 adults enjoyed the relaxing self guided tour along the 1.2 mile boardwalk. Each couple picked up an information brochure from the box at the head of the trail and returned it at the end. Be sure to take your camera. We chose to pay for 2 hours parking and that was just right. It gave us time to walk and to sit and listen and look.
