Well maintained boardwalk through great cypress swamp. Lots of epiphytes and some good wildlife sightings, all the tropical birds, plus some baby alligators. Just a couple of bucks for parking, and so close to civilization, yet feels so far removed.

We went to the cypress slough preserve just to kill some time. I would suggest to bring more time (let's say two hours) and maybe binoculars.
At first we just saw some birds and an alligator...I was hoping to see the otters but they were hiding (maybe due to some loud visitors)...but in the end we saw a boar and its piglets running and squeaking ;) and after that even a raccoon!
We had to run back to our car because we were cheap and only got a parking ticket for an hour - will do two next time :)

Thank maxfulder

This is a great place to see wildlife & not have to get dirty. Boarwalk trail all around it. Kids would love it. Best to go in morning to see gators

This is an excellent location to learn about native plants & wildlife. A well maintained boardwalk provides access to various habitats. There are many displays along the way to exlain precisely what you are seeing. During our visit we were fortunate to see a variety of birds,an alligator, numerous turtles & four playful otters. The entire visit took us two hours, but you could do it more quickly or spend hours there if you chose. Another plus is that the boardwalk is shaded by overhanging trees which makes it more comfortable.

Great easy walk with a little taste of Florida's flora and fauna. Take your time and enjoy the peace and quiet. The trail guide describes nicely your sites along the way. The highlight was seeing two little pigs nibble their way through the slough. If we lived here, this is where I would take my morning walks. Beautiful!
