The boardwalk takes you through a variety of habitats in the preserve, with plenty of wildlife to see. At one pond saw many birds and 25-30 alligators. Later, 2 water moccasins curled up together. Since you're safely above the creatures, you can enjoy the close-up views.

Quiet boardwalk about 1 1/4 miles. Small gators. Cormorants. Anhingas. If you return to the largest pond about dusk many birds return. Interesting displays in the information center. Free admission. Pay only for parking.

I said there should be a cuff so people can take their blood pressure going in - and again going out. I can almost guarantee it will be lower once experiencing this walk in nature. It was so peaceful and still. While we didn't get to see Big Al (the alligator) we did see turtles, birds, fish and two snakes intertwined sleeping on a log. The trees and flowers and water in themselves made the journel worth while. A 'slough' is considered a type of swamp yet this water was crystal clear. As we were leaving a volunteer asked if I'd enjoyed it and I said most definitely. He smiled and said 'you'll be back - no one can come here only once'. You know what? He was right!

This easy boardwalk takes you through the cypress swamp and gives you an idea of what the Seminole Indians saw years ago.
You will probably see large alligators.

We have only been once but will return. The wildlife is in abundance. It is peaceful but also a great way to get out and see Florida in its natural state. If you like walking and do not mind a bit of heat this is a great way to see wildlife and drop a few calories.
