This made for a nice place to stroll in the shade along a boardwalk among the lizards and birds. I enjoyed the solitude of the ampitheater at the lake. Loved the blue ibis I saw. Was very calming.

After reading the "dog friendly" review on this site we drove for 1/2 hours with our dog to have a nice walk . When we arrived we found it not dog friendly , no pets allowed and you can be given a fine . We were told to go the Lakes park , we arrived at lakes park and found no pets allowed . Ft Myers is not dog friendly , Ft Myers Beach is , dog are allowed on the beach , you can take your dog to Tangers , Coconut point , Miramar bit not to a public park in Ft Myers . Very odd.

We participated in a tour of the park led by a volunteer who was a biology teacher from Minnesota. The tour was very informative. We saw alligators, spoon bills, ibis, three different types of egrets, cormourant, wood peckers, turtles, different types of fishe ...... Highly recommended!
