“Otters, Turtles, Gators, and Pigs!!!”
Reviewed December 25, 2011

Take a stroll along the 1 1/2 mile elevated walkway into a moving river and see egrets, ibis, anhingas, gators, otters, turtles, pig families, pilated woodpeckers and woodstorks! The nature center here also has wooden rocking chairs for a respite after your walk. Just before sunset, hundreds of herons and ibis flock to the tree branches for a stunning show and the fish are always jumping. A treasure of a tour.

“Beautifully maintained and fun!”
Reviewed November 28, 2011

We love to visit the Slough for a nice walk and to see the beautiful natural landscape. We can see birds, alligators (or is it crocs?), and other creatures that abide in the preserve. Make sure you go on a warmer day and you will catch them all in action!

“I love this place, my wife is not so sure.”
Reviewed November 26, 2011

There are plenty of elevated boardwalk trails that go through several different environments. I thought it was really interesting and enjoyable to see the different kinds of plants. Our tour ended abruptly, however, when my wife noticed a rather long black rat snake.
There is also a museum of sorts, which is probably well used by elementary school groups in the area. Outside the museum there is a huge covered porch with some inviting rocking chairs. We sat there a while (safe from the wildlife) and just relaxed in the warm Florida climate.

“not worth the trip”
Reviewed November 18, 2011

Went last week and expected to see some wildlife. I was very disappointed, the only thing I saw was a very small baby gator and that was not an easy spot. The place is just one big, long cypress walk. There weren't any birds, or flowers, or anything but cypress. Wouldn't go back again that's for sure.

Highly recommend visiting this place. The guided walk was really informative and a low cost (only $3 to park).
