Small tubs of pale pink creamy shrimp bisque stand in line next to bases for both kinds of chowder - New England style being what the restaurant is most famous for, a nod to the original owners' home region. Diners consistently return to enjoy these favorites plus the greatest Florida Stone crabs (in season) and Maine Lobsters.

“Great ambiance and good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2013 via mobile

The ambiance is marvelous here and suggests a fine dining establishment. However, the general mood here is very relaxed and casual. The wait staff's use of the word "guys", as in "how are you guys tonight?" is a bit of a downer when viewed against the very nice decor. By the way, two visits in one month with different servers netted us the "you guys..." slang. However, the food is good although choose wisely as some entries such as the breaded fish items are pricey. And if you're watching calories, the vegetables that come with the dinner, and small portions of those too, are slathered in butter. Overall, it's nice and casual - just order wisely.

“Go for shellfish, not so much for variety”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 13, 2013

Yeah, I have a shellfish allergy, but my wife loves the stuff, so I try to find alternatives. Tried the steak here--poor. Tried fish--sometimes very good, other times not so much, and obviously another species, though both times listed as the same. By all reports, the shellfish is great, however.

“Seafood Seafood Seafood!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2013

If that is what you want -Prawnbrokers is one of the best in the neighborhood. Get there before 5:30 pm and one can take advantage of their "Early Catch". Coconut Shrimp with Plum Sauce/sweet potato and shrimp bisque cannot be beat.
The extensive menue offers something for everyone's palate - try it - you will like it!

“Ok but overrated in my opinion”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 7, 2013

This restaurant was recommended to us so we went. We went early in order to try and beat the rush. Didn't happen. We waited 45 mins to be seated. I ordered the grouper with crab and some kind of sauce, which was said to be one of the most popular dishes. The fish itself was cooked to perfection however it was VERY BLAND. It definitely needed some seasoning. The veggie side was good but it is kind of hard to mess up broccoli. The rice pilaf was fine but nothing more than ordinary. What was really good was the New England Clam Chowder. It was really tasty. MY husband had a caesar salad with shrimp. He said the salad dressing was really good but the shrimp had a funny taste. I tasted and agreed. But really no one should be eating GULF shrimp anyway! (Thanks to BP) The service was very good. Overall, we felt it was just ok and quite expensive to just be OK.

“Hidden Gem!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 7, 2013

Ate last year with a coworker who has had a condo in Sannibel for 20 years and he had never found this place. Let me tell you we loved it and he is as finicky as it gets. Just be prepared to make reservations well in advance! If you can't get what you want go to the sister restaurant The University Grill!
