“Don't miss the Christmas show!”
Reviewed May 29, 2012

Fun to visit at any time of the year, but don't miss the Christmas special. It's an "after dark" treat and will put you in the spirit.

“Nice trails”
Reviewed April 28, 2012

My husband and I went to the Calusa Nature Center this past week. We went in the morning mid week and it was not busy at all. The staff is very friendly and is happy to tell you all about the animals onsite. They have animals indoors as well as outside, mostly birds of prey, but also gators, boar, fox, raccoon. They have a few different trails to walk through. We did them all. Did not get to see much wildlife on the actual trails, but it was nice to take the walk and see the Florida woods. Did not go to the planeetarium but hear it is good.

“Fun place to see wildlife”
Reviewed April 13, 2012

I've seen better nature centers but this one is still worth the visit. There isn't anything else like the Calusa Nature Center in S.W. Florida and this one has some great animals to view. The Planetarium is great too, nice shows.

“Great place for kids' birthday parties!”
Reviewed March 15, 2012

The Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium is a great place for kids! Our family spends a lot of our free time hiking, canoeing, kayaking and camping in SWFL and we frequent many of the preserves and parks in the area. Our boys, ages 6 and 7, are thrilled to see animals in their natural habitat, and have fun learning more about both local and exotic animals at the Calusa Nature Center.

In the past 4 months, each of our boys celebrated his birthday with a party at the Calusa Nature Center. In December and again in March, we used the Pine Pavilion for a private party and and had an animal show. Adam, the biologist, brought several animals for the kids to see-and many of them they were allowed to touch! He's very passionate and knowledgable about the rescued animals in his charge and gave a terrific presentation. The parents were as intrigued as the kids! Afterwards, the kids ran through the nature trails, checked out the exhibits in the museum, the touch tank, and the various enclosures. They had a great time, and learned alot too!

The Calusa Nature Center , although not a state-of-the-art facility, takes good care of the injured or at-risk animals in their care. The center also provides an excellent opportunity to learn about the many creatures that share our world.
