“Poorly designed theater + sub-par experience!”

Had never been to this venue, and my expectation was a true theater. You know the kind: all seats have "good enough" sight lines and ample room, the building offers enough restrooms, and any food is kept to lobby & banned from theater proper. None of this was true here!

Think "SILO" for all the seating (the mezz & balcony) above the main floor so the stage was in the bottom of a canyon, and we viewed from top rim. Extremely steep rows, crazy-high above the stage, stairway had dangerous treads staggered deep, then shallow! Restrooms, women & MEN had lines 40 deep! Truly gross was the amount of eating in theater, i.e. cheap movie theater!

Didn't enjoy the play of WarHorse either, a very dark theme without balancing some lightness of HOPE and lifelike colors. Dialogue wasn't understood due to British accents & overlap in actors lines vs. the sound effects/music. Save your money.

I love Bob Newhart's type of humor. He's still funny. I thought, though, that the show was a bit short (< 1.5 hours) for the cost of the tickets, $65 each. I understand that a man of his age may not be able to physically complete a bigger/longer show. He did have an orchestra and singer to fill the first 20-30 minutes, but that type of music is not to my liking.

The theatre was ok, but as mentioned in another's review, there was no reason to have the lobby packed with people prior to the show for more than 30 minutes past the printed start time. Also, it rained that evening and the valet service ($15) was poorly run and disorganized.

All in all the audience responded very well to Bob and I had a great time.

Have seen Jersey Boys here twice and recently saw The Hit Men, a group of five musicians, two of whom performed with Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. All three shows were top-rate and highly enjoyable. The music brought back many fond memories of the 60s and 70s.
The Barbara Mann theater is a fine place to see/hear a musical production, despite what some of the TA critics say. We always sit in the front mezzanine, and there has never been a problem with acoustics or sight lines. The venue itself is clean and attractive, but the steps are, as several reviewers have pointed out, rather steep. Parking is free, and who can complain about that?

Went to show. Tickets said 7 o'clock, but we got there and was told that was an error, show starts at 7:30. Not a big deal except at 7:06 the doors still not open. You have many elderly people sitting on the floor, for what seems like no reason. Why not let them sit in all the empty seats. Makes no sense. Very disorganized, which since it's at Edison State should not surprise anyone.

Close by to Treeline and Daniels Parkway; easy to get in and out; small theater and good acoustics; comfortable seats
