Owner description: Visit Old Florida, where things are done naturally.San Carlos Bay - Bunche Beach Preserve is a 718 acre beach and mangrove forest preserve with a variety of recreational opportunities to enjoy including: Bird Watching, Canoe/Kayak Launch, Canoeing/Kayaking, Fishing, Hiking (Boardwalk), Nature Study/Photography, Picnic Area, Swimming and Sun Bathing.Step back in time visiting San Carlos Bay- Bunche Beach Preserve, one of the few natural beaches framed with native vegetation and mangrove tunnels to explore by kayak or canoe. In 2010, public beach facilities were completed & opened with ADA parking, restrooms, fishing piers, kayak ramp, picnic tables, and a small boardwalk overlooking Rock Creek. On the white sandy beach, there is an ADA mobie mat that leads to an ADA picnic table. Bunche Beach is not a barrier island beach. It is narrow compared to the beaches on Sanibel and Fort Myers beach. This adds to its unique charm. This Beach is never crowded and easily accessible with no traffic concerns. Kayak and SUP rentals are available through the on site vendor, Kayak Excursions, which also sells bottled water and assorted sundries at the Activities center located just behind the beach.Enjoy a quiet day by the bay.

We've been to Bunche beach a number of times. It is a quiet beach that does not get very crowded. Usually bike over there. Near the beach there is a building with clean rest rooms. The water is calm. Bunche beach has an interesting history. Many years ago, before the civil rights movement it was a segregated beach for non-white folks. No longer, of course and there are families and people of all kinds having fun at the beach. Water is calm.

We decided to check it out as I had read a little about it on the internet. Not very wide, very secluded, very little parking with pay to park.

Been going there for 15 years now and still don't ever tire of its' natural, untouched beauty! Out of the way place that you should take the time to locate and relax at.

Geologically speaking you've got sand and water but then there's the clientele. I'm a local and sometimes visit Bunche Beach to get away from Fort Myers Beach, but rarely. Every time I've gone, there are a number of creepy older men who have an unhealthy interest in younger men. I am NOT joking, it's weird. I have nothing against homosexuality and am a gay friendly person but it's not the sexual orientation that's the problem, it's the nature of the individuals who frequent Bunche Beach. There are often arrests there for varied sex crimes, exposures, prostitution, ect. Aside from that, it's a nice secluded beach!
