What an enjoyable place to be for a day! There were throngs of people visiting and I thought it might make for an unpleasant experience; however, the grounds are so large that we didn't really notice how busy it was. We were unable to get a group tour because of the crowds. Instead we went on the self-guided audio tour. The audio was good, but I would have rather had a docent-led tour. I overheard some bits of other tours and I know there was additional information provided as well as Q and A. Otherwise the audio was sufficient to learn about the two homes, the grounds and its many varieties of latex-producing trees and palm trees, and the relationship between Edison and Ford. Mainly, it was nice just to stroll through the grounds, sit and look over the water, and relax. It is one of the more relaxing tourist attractions. It is easy to miss the museum and laboratory, but don't! They are worth a walk-through.

We drove up from Naples and it was the best experience of the week. We just had time to visit the museum and it was an amazing place. It's a bit overwhelming because of all there is to see so next time we will plan a longer visit!

I think of Thomas Edison in terms of lightbulbs and gramophones, but this gorgeous house and landscape gave me great insight into his wide-ranging interests. From the approach through the impressive parade of royal palms, to the many-legged banyan tree, to the beautiful homes complete with their original furniture, to the Moonlight Garden - what an incredible heritage landscape.
The staff were incredibility helpful and thoughtful, the signs were informative, and the volunteer guides were so interesting. We really enjoyed talking to the retired chemist in Edison's restored laboratory - who knew that rubber could be made from the lowly golden rod weed? The mango trees, the orchids, the spreading fig tree roots - all situated on the edge of a beautiful water vista made this place very special

The homes and grounds are beautiful and well kept. Lots of history and beauty. Christmastime is especially beautiful with the thousands of lights and entertainment. Gift shop is full of great treasures and the outdoor café has good snacks.
