OK for a nice walk. Nice gardens and a knowledgable tour guide. Liked the old cars and the Edison history.

We took a tour of the estate with my parents and 11 year old daughter. Our tour director was very nice and shared many interesting fasts. The grounds were decorated for Christmas and were beautiful in the evening for our tour. However, I felt we weren't given enough time to look into all of the rooms and go up to each building that was available during the tour. This was probably because our tour group was so large. I would like to see the tour group size cut back to allow sufficient time for viewing, asking questions, taking photos, etc.

I went knowing I would not have time to see everything, so I chose to tour the Museum and Lab. The museum has no audio tour, but all the exhibits are well marked. Lots and lots of photos. Several lengthy videos with good info. Edison was into so many things that it is hard to fit everything in, but they did a pretty good job. I will go back on a future trip to view the house and gardens.

Took a of 60 (bus load) to tour the estates. Had wonderful docile explain the history and show the different buildings, vegetation and lives of these 2 men. Incredible that this vast estate was bought for only $2700-even for those days. On the water yet!

Even though, or because of, the weather was chilly, there were quite a number of others touring
the property.

Went there with friends. Beautifully maintained, many benches in shady areas, very relaxing. We did the self guided tour with the audio feature. If you would rather, they have a guided tour also. We really enjoyed going at our own pace. Two gift shops, snacks and a café. Only complaint was that the smaller gift shop near the Ford estate wasn't air conditioned and got stuffy very quickly. Maybe the air just wasn't working that day, but even fans and open windows would have helped. I felt sorry for the clerk working there.

It was just after New Year's on a Sunday and the houses were still beautifully decorated. I understand at Christmas it can get very crowded.

Overall, very enjoyable, beautiful and worth a visit. We especially enjoyed just finding a cool bench and relaxing, gazing at the river! This is a place to take your time in. We probably spent 4 hours there but you could do it in less if you don't take time to "smell the roses" like we did.
