My 16 year old son and I took the self guided tour and we both enjoyed it very much.
Lots to learn about Edison and Ford.
The property and plant life is beautiful and well worth the visit.

“Thought it Would be Boring: Wrong!”
Reviewed March 30, 2013

Good grief, what an amazing collection of Edison inventions. You could easily spend 3 days here and not absorb everything this guy did. It wasn't just about electricity or the light bulb. We found his relationships with Ford, Firestone, and Burroughs particularly enlightening. We only did the museum and lab self-guided tour. http://www.edisonfordwinterestates.org/

“Snapshot of an Inventory”
Reviewed March 29, 2013

Museum presented information on how Edison and Ford became friends as well as their business relationship. Wonderful exhibit on Edison as an inventor. We didn't have time to see the homes, but the greeter suggested that we take a walk in front of the estates to get a sense of their winter homes.

Allow 3-4 hours to go through the museum, lab, and homes.

“A gorgeous piece of history!!!”
Reviewed March 28, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I visited the estates recently and loved the experience. We took the self-guided tout which allowed us time to wander and explore which was a good thing because there is soooo much to see! The estates are very large and covered in beautiful trees and plants that were the focus of most of my pictures. I've never seen trees the size of some of those. The self-guided tour was very informative still as they provide you with a device to play audio as you reach certain locations on the estate. The history of the estates was such a treat to see and learn about. We finished our trip with a walk through the museum, Edison's lab, and the gift shop which were all very enjoyable as well. A must do if you're in the Ft. Myers area!!!
