“You have to think back to when there was nothing in Ft Myers....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

By today's standards, it's no big deal....just another big house on a nice piece of property. But you have to remember that when Ford and Edison lived here, there was no Ft Myers and no Home Depot to run to if you needed something. It was a feat that they were able to get all of their supplies by boat through the buggy overgrown, uncharted waters to build what is still considered a VERY nice home!
I loved it for the historic value. Also saw a small part of the workshop.
Across the street from the homestead is a facinating garden area.

“Edison & Ford Winter Estates Visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

This was an amazing step back in time. We did the self tour but still got a lot out of our visit. Very beautiful grounds and scenic area as well the history of the two homes and lab. It would be well worth the time taken to visit and is something we will always remember.

“Great Place to visit”

Took out of town guests here and we all loved it, even in the summer heat. Beautiful grounds, great learning experience. We'll go back even without guests to entertain!

“MUST SEE - How the wealthy lived in yesteryear”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

Wonderful museum to Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. Possibly Florida's best collection of Banyan trees. Lots of historical and personal insights into the lives of Edison and Ford. If you're in west Florida, this is a must-see.

Also LOTS of flowers, and exquisite bougainvillea plantings.
