Beautifully landscaped grounds with an excellent self-guided tour. Enormous banyan trees. Worth the visit and the kids loved it. Most of the staff were friendly, but there was one groundskeeper that actually harassed us and jerked the tour speaker out of my daughter's hand. What's up with that! Would not return due to this incident.

This is not the first time we have visited the Edison-Ford Estates. In the past there was more information available about Edison. The staff has moved most of the items from Edison's lab to inside the museum and in doing so, had to remove many of the other exhibits. To be quite frank, we were dissapointed.

I think a first time visitor would be pleased, there is a good bit of interesting facts about Edison and his contemporaries, the grounds are beautiful and very well cared for and the staff is friendly. For me, I don't think I will venture back again.

It was extremely interesting to visit the winter estates of Edison and Ford. Mr. Edison had 1093 inventions. He lived in a beautiful but modest home. Mr. Ford liked to talk with Mr. Edison so he purchased the land next door and built a winter home but only spent two weeks a year there. I think most people would enjoy this attraction. We did have lunch at The Edison Restaurant a mile or so from the Estates--very good.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the estates..despite the mid-summer heat in Fort Myers. The grounds are stunningly beautiful and the buildings transport you back to an earlier age and life style. It's hard to comprehend that two of the wealthiest families in the USA would live so modestly during their winter visits.
If we were to do it again (and we may) we would take the guided tour rather than the audio tour. For the additional $5 per person you get so much more commentary and insight.
I would allot four hours to see the estate and museums. There is an outdoor cafe/snack bar under a large banyan tree.
The Edison Ford Estate was the highlight of our weekend trip to Fort Myers.

This is definately worth a stop. We enjoyed our tour very much. The grounds are beautiful and the museum and laboratory very interesting. We did the complete estate tour for $20 each. Had a little trouble finding it at first but finally figured it out.
