The hotel itself is very nice. We had a room with a resort view, and it was a great view of the sunrise. The king sized bed was very comfortable. There was a mini-bar, but no microwave oven. The staff at the hotel and in the restaurants are friendly, helpful, attentive, and accommodating! The Steakhouse is pricey, but the food was amazing! The Tarpon House has a yummy breakfast buffet. One problem with the Tarpon House was that they had an extremely limited dinner menu for the 4th of July, so we had to find another restaurant for dinner that night. Otherwise, it was good. The pool is pretty, but there are not nearly enough chairs nor towels available to accommodate all the guests. We were unable to get chairs or towels at all at either pool on our first day there. That taught us to get up early and stake out our chairs for the next 2 days. It was also very difficult to find a parking spot in which to "self park" which costs $12 per day! I strongly recommend a kayak excursion and/or jet ski eco-tour with Holiday Water Sports located on the pier by the pool!!! We did the jet ski tour 2 days in a row, and we will do it again if we go back! The kayak "path" looks so lush and beautiful, but we didn't try that - kayaking is too much like work. ;-)

Dear Tammi N,

Thank you for sharing your recent experience at the Sanibel Harbour Marriott Resort & Spa.

We are delighted to learn that you enjoyed our Courtside Steakhouse, comfy bedding, and the morning 'sunrise' view from your room, in addition to our warm "Spirit to Serve" mentality that we take much pride in. We love hearing that you took full advantage of our onsite partnership with Holiday Adventure Tours & Boat Rentals while you were with us!

The week of July 4th tends to be our busiest time in the Summer and while we are a popular destination for out-of-towners, many locals come to enjoy the holiday weekend with us as well! We apologize there wasn't sufficient parking or pool chairs during your visit. We are addressing this issue to ensure we are properly prepared in the future.

All of us are looking forward to your next visit with us

Best Regards,
Jahangir H.

We love having getaway weekends at this resort and have been several times. Everyone that works there are all very pleasant and usually right on top of doing anything you need. However..... this time we had some issues that they need to address! For one, the stairs out to the pool, the stairs you have to use to go to the bayhroom from the pool, are VERY slippery. We watched 2 people slip and fall on the stairs, one of them being a server that worked at the pool bar. Very dangerous. Next, the pool/hotub has declined in condition substantially. The hottub did not work and had algea in it. We asked an employee at the pool about it and he walked over there for 2 mins and said it was good to go. We walked over there and it was still the same.....no jets. The pool needs a good pressure washing as there were several areas with mold and mildew. Next are the kids in the pool. There were several kids in the pool throwing hard plastic frisbees, balls etc when there were several adults in the pool. Not once did any hotel employee intervene. We counted 11 people that were hit with the frisbee in the head, face, back etc. The hotel needs to have someone to take care of things like this. It doesn't take much but goes a long way with the people staying there that are affected. The food was great. Tarpon House was nice but had a "Golden Corral" feel due to the loudness of the families with children. Usually a $27 per plate restaruant is a bit quieter. All the servers were great there. The room was nice. The bathroom was nothing special but no big deal. We stayed on the 9th floor. Great water view. Reserved a King bed and got 2 queens instead, not that big of a deal. Valet was great as well. Pricey but we never had to wait for our car. If you self park, be prepared to walk a long way to get back. Overall, we still love the place for the location and short weekend getaways but it seems as though managemant may be lacking a bit. Hopefully they make a few adjustments, it will go a long way.

Room Tip: Anything above 6th floor and stay in Sanibel tower.

Kevin and I stayed at this hotel one night. We arrived at 1:30 and our ro was ready and waiting for us. We had a beautiful waterfront room in the main hotel. It was up to date and very elegant. I have states in many marriotts and this one is by far one is the best.

After reading the reviews on this website, we took a gamble and booked a two-night weekend stay at this Marriott, conveniently located at the foot of the bridge leading to Sanibel and Captiva islands. Though there were several pluses to our visit, mainly the incredible waterfront views from our 10th-floor executive suite in the Sanibel building, the stay was mostly disappointing. This resort has incredible potential with its location and property, but has MUCH to address before rightfully billing itself as a premiere vacation destination and charging $200-plus a night. Upon check-in, we were told our suite was recently renovated only to find that was partly true. The bathroom toilet/shower area had cracked/moldy tiles that were obviously dated; the door hinges were all rusted too. Upon getting off the elevator, the entire hallway to our room smelled of mold (read previous reviews that confirm this). Lots of little things to address: the bedside phone key pad was broken, the outside windows in the living area were filthy, making it difficult to enjoy the view, several of the plantation shutters over those windows wouldn't stay in an open position either. Certainly the biggest issue of our stay was the evening wedding held on the pool deck. A disc jockey BLASTED salsa/rap music until 10 p.m., leaving us (and many other guests) unable to sit on our balconies in peace and enjoy the ambiance. We complained several times throughout the evening; hotel management asked the DJ to lower the music, which he did for 10 minutes before cranking it back up. On a positive note, hotel management was quite apologetic and did comp one night's stay. Further, they were very kind and accommodating overall (bed linens and room service delivered quickly) and contacted us upon departure to make sure we were satisfied. Again, lots of potential to be a great resort destination but MUCH to address.

We stayed one Saturday night after moving our daughter down to Naples. The week before our visit, I made a massage appointment for my husband and the woman on the phone couldn't have been nicer.

We didn't arrive until almost midnight, unfortunately, because we probably missed a fantastic sunset from our balcony. But the desk staff and parking valets were wonderful, and the young gentleman that brought our suitcases up to our room was so personable, witty and he made me smile, even at that late hour!

The room was large and comfortably cool (it was so muggy that night) with two queen-sized beds, single armchair, a desk with whatever technology plug you might have needed, and a small flat screen tv. When we opened the curtains and looked out, it was obvious that we would have an amazing view when we woke up. And did we! Beautiful bay with several islands, breezy wind blowing the palm trees and the sound of a waterfall below made my morning. The balcony had two chairs and a small table, which I used quite a bit on Sunday.

We ate Sunday breakfast in the Tarpon House and ordered from the menu, however, they do offer a buffet, which I did not see. My eggs Benedict meal was delicious as was my husband's western omelette. When our waitress brought us our check, she had two takeout cups filled with their great coffee, as well. Very nice touch.

A lot of families seem to plan events here, from reunions to weddings. And a team of young baseball players was just arriving as we left.

We are planning on going back for a longer stay in the future. So happy we chose this place for a stay over!

Room Tip: Definitely get a "waterfront" room with a balcony. There is a bit of noise from the pool a...

We stayed here for a week in June, in a King Executive Suite on the sixth floor of the Sanibel Building. It was a corner suite with two balconies, and the views from both were just great. The suite consisted of a nice, comfortable bedroom and a living room. One improvement I would suggest is a larger coffee table in the living room. The one they had was tiny, and could hold just a single room service tray. We ordered room service a lot and there was no real viable way to eat other than with our plates in our laps.

All of the staff we encountered were extremely friendly and professional. Service at the pools was outstanding. There are two outdoor pools at the Sanibel building, one tended to be quieter, and the other tended to be more rowdy. Like every other resort of its type, some people get up early and stake out their pool chairs by leaving a towel or a magazine on a chair for hours, insuring that nobody else can use it. We did not do this because we try not to be inconsiderate of others.

Despite all the towels and magazines that had their own prime real estate at the pools, it wasn't too challenging finding a spot during the week. Weekends were a little bit tougher. They do rent what they call "cabanas," which are not cabanas, but rather, two chairs with cushions and a dedicated umbrella. These come with some amenities, like free water and a fresh fruit plate. We rented one the first full day there, only because there were no other chairs with umbrellas. I would've rented them again, but the chairs themselves had very limited adjustability (they reclined too much, so I couldn't comfortably sit up and read).

We had dinner at the Tarpon one night, and the food was good and the service was great. We had a light dinner at Charley's Bar one night, and again, food was perfectly fine and the service very good.

They do seem to perform housekeeping quite late in the day. The first couple of days we were there, we'd go out for the day and come back at four or five and the room hadn't been cleaned. After that, we just called the "At Your Service" number on the phone every day, and let them know we were going out for a few hours and asked for our room to be cleaned while we were gone. Worked like a charm.

I'll echo what some other reviewers said that you should know before you go. I can't imagine staying here without a car. Even though the food was fine, you'll get tired of it eventually and want to strike out and try something new. Also, with Sanibel and Captiva just across the bridge, it would be a shame to miss them, especially if you've never been to this area.

One thing I appreciated was having a small dedicated fridge in the suite (in addition to the mini-bar). We stopped at Publix on the way to the hotel, and stocked up on snacks and drinks for the week.

Would I stay there again? Yes. While we were there, I booked the same type of suite for a week at Christmas. In the interest of full disclosure, I come to Fort Myers several times a year to visit my father who is in an assisted living facility there. Nothing against the area, but if it weren't for that, this wouldn't be a place I would choose as a destination resort for my vacation. I live in California so vacationing in places like Cabo or even Hawaii makes a little more sense for me.

Having said all that, I'll be back! I've stayed at a few other places in the area over the years, and this is my favorite so far. They really shine in terms of service, and the views can't be beat.
