“Excellent location”

We visited this Marriott for a long weekend visiting family. The setting for the hotel was on the bay and a great location for watching sunsets. The staff was courteous and professional. The fitness center was very nice and had a lot of equipment. We stayed in the Captiva Tower not realizing that it was separate from the main hotel and dining facilities. This wasn't a big problem as the walk was short and they provided shuttle service but something to be aware of. The other surprise was on our bill when we checked out. We had a $15/day resort fee which isn't unusual but I was surprised by the $12/day self parking fee. Overall, we enjoyed the stay and will come back again when in the area.

Room Tip: The Captiva Tower is separate from the main hotel

My husband, daughter, and I visited this property for my daughter's spring break (April 2 - 5, 2013). My husband is a platunum member of Marriott and we have stayed at many locations/properties. No doubt - this was the worst stay ever! We stayed in the Captiva Tower. Marriott should either remodel this tower or TEAR IT DOWN! The carpet in our room was not only worn, it was heavily stained. I made my daughter wear flip flops when she was in the room. The sofas and chairs are stained as well; they look as if they are survivals of a flood or severe water damage. The bathroom looked like the housecleaning staff only cleaned the "obvious". The frig was dirty. The balconcy was nice BUT dirty; it needs to be pressure washed and swept daily. I could go on forever.....the Captiva Tower looks like the forgotten Overflow Tower. If you stay at the hotel, demand a room in the Sanibel Tower or stay some where else!

Room Tip: Do NOT stay in the Captive Tower!

We had a wonderful experience at the hotel. The restaurant was fantastic. We highly recommend the Sunday brunch cruise. My wife had a massage and said it was the best she ever had....and that says a lot. We used Naples Transportation to get us around and they were top notch!!

Room Tip: ask for a balcony and one of their newly renovated rooms

I was surprised at the average service for a Marriott resort hotel. I am a platinum member of Marriott and have stayed in many locations. For the price choose another hotel in the area. I had a problem with the reservation booked and the manager took his/her time getting me an answer and did not speak to me personally. They do not have a high regard for their guests.

We stayed here for 1 night and unplanned. First time to be here, Nice hotel. Secluded and quiet. The lobby is huge, overlooking the water and the pool area. You can either valet park or self park. They do charge a Resort Fee, which was fine. I wished we've stayed for 1 more day to enjoy the facility. All in all It was a really good stay. Thanks!

Stayed at this hotel for a business meeting. The hotel itself was nice and the room was the typical size for a Marriott and quite clean. There were some minor service issues that should not have happened. The location is somewhat strange in an out-of-the-way location --- not on Sanibel Island but located right before the causewayover to the island.

Room Tip: Make sure your room is located in the Main Building and not in the overflow tower.

We just returned from 3 nights at the Marriott Sanibel Harbour. I can't say enough about their staff! a smile and a hello from every single employee anytime you ran into them. It has been a long time since I encountered such great service. Our room was great although a bit on the small
side the view more than made up for it. We were in the Sanibel Tower which I booked based on other reviewers recommendations. I was told the rooms in the Captiva tower are much bigger and inquired about past reviewers comments. The property is planning on giving a face lift to the captiva tower over the summer which is great news.
The steak house was great as was Charlie's bar. my single complaint was the lack of chairs around the pool. and by 8am everyone had run down and put their towels on the chairs-which seems to be standard practice at most resorts that cater to families. It is maddening to say the least. especially when the chairs go empty most the day while the kids are in the pool.
there is a sandy area that could have had at least an additional 30-50 lounge chairs alleviating this problem a bit. maybe making it a "no parents zone" for the teens!
be sure to visit Sanibel island and Captiva. the traffic was pretty awful when we were there however it was spring break week so I would hope it is not like that all the time.
this resort is not to be missed if your in the area.
