“Marriott just gets better!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 30, 2012

We just spent a wonderful five nights at this "newly multi-million $" renovated resort. The hotel looks beautiful inside with new marble floors, new furniture, carpet, paint, decor in common area spaces and the rooms. We stayed in a King Studio Suite, waterside w/balcony. The view fabulous and a lovely living space for five nights. All of the above make this a very nice resort and area to visit (Sabibel and Captiva Island are just a few miles distance and can be seen from the resort). What makes this Resort special are the personnel who are employed here! Everyone (and I mean everyone) goes out of their way to make sure your every need or desire is taken care of. Some very special people we must mention are Peggy/Concierge, Eric/Front Desk and Phil/Bellman. Peggy greeted us as we arrived in the lobby and helped us with everything from dining, shopping, directions, etc. Very experienced, helpful, kind, warm person. One of the best Concierge we have met in all of our travels throughout America, Europe, Carribean, Canada, Puerto Rico, etc.. Eric/Front Desk made us feel so welcome when we checked in and made sure our room was exactly what we wanted and also filled our request for a portable refrigerator. Phil/Bellman was of great assistance with our luggage, filled our ice bucket, made suggestions on dining and oriented us with the hotel layout. We had one small problem in our bathroom and it was taken care of in a very timely manor. We even received an e-mail from Guest Services making sure that everything was fixed and that a 1,000 Marriott pts. were being credited to our Marriott Rewards Program. My final words are "a hotel is just a building, the employees are what make a GREAT hotel"! Thanks to all of the employees at this Marriott.

Room Tip: Studio King Suite, waterside w/balcony/Sanibel Tower. Captiva Tower is rooms only and sperate from t...

I've stayed here every year for the past five years and it has always been a great experience. This year i became ill and when I called room service to get something for me they were very understanding, kind and helpful. The views from all the rooms are excellent and the rooms are spacious you couldn't ask for a better place to stay for weekend.

This hotel is newly renovated, making the amazing views and excellent facilities even more enjoyable. However, it truly is the staff that made our stay so memorable and for us to happily return in the future. The friendliness and attentiveness of the staff make this large resort hotel feel intimate and cosy; they truly want you to have a wonderful stay. From the concierge taking delight in the looking at the shells found by children to the pool-side servers bringing you water without being asked, everyone endeavors to help you enjoy your stay. We stayed in a newly renovated room in the Sanibel Tower. The renovations are a delight and the rooms are lovely. We could have happily stayed longer, but will have to be content with planning a return visit.

From start to finish I was extremely impressed with the Marriott... everyone was so friendly and more than accommodating. The view is amazing and the rooms were clean and nicely decorated. Also, location was right nearby Sanibel & Captiva Islands. Awesome experience!

I stayed here for business but was also able to make a it a girl's trip once work was over. The property is very nice and staff is attentive. We enjoyed light dinner and drinks on the outside patio which was convenient. Our room had a great view of the pool and gulf. It's not beach front, so if you want sand and long walks this isn't your spot. Captiva was a 15 minute drive away, so not too bad. Overall we were pleased.

We have stayed at the resort on tow occasions and have had a marvelous time. We stayed in rooms with a water view on a high floor and the views of the Harbour are breath taking with wonderful romantic sunsets. The hotel has just undergone and is completing a much needed renovation and now the rooms and facility compliment the wonderful location. The staff is attentive and friendly. Charley's for flat bread pizza and drinks is great but would avoid the steak restaurant as we found it expensive for what you got. Right at the base of the Sanibel bridge, a great spot to use as home base and explore (keep in mind the bridge is $6 to cross very time to plan your trips judiciously unless you don't care about the charge. Breakfast buffet is pretty good for $20 and you can sit outside and enjoy the view without worry of bugs as it is protected. You can find good breakfasts for less off property but this is quite convenient. Pool is great, spa wonderful, hot tip big enough for a party and the pool bar attendants always at your service. Without a doubt, a great place to stay, relax and/or use as a home base.

Room Tip: If you can, get a water view on a high floor....but even floor 3 has great views. Corner suites on...

Dates of Stay 11/11-16/12 Sanibel Tower 562
Booked thru Expedia and prepaid for king room but did not get it. We were told that they assigned rooms based on availability.
This resort was built as a conference center many years ago before being acquired by Marriott. It reminds me of a sixty something woman trying to look twenty something. (No offence to 60 year old women)
The Sanibel Tower rooms were remodeled in 2006. The bed mattresses in our room were in need of replacement, everything else was quite acceptable.
The Captiva tower was not part of the original property and was acquired to provide additional room revenue for the resort which is not huge by today's hotel standards.
I found the property pricey. There is a $15 a day "resort" fee and a $12 a day self parking fee. (really!?!) We did not eat at any of the restaurants because the prices were so high. You are paying for the waterfront location, period.
There is ongoing remodeling going on, so you may run into this at any time.
There are two shallow pools and many people find this attractive but we were not traveling to Fla to go in a pool. There is no beach.
For the price, I'm sure we could do better.
The concierge desk was the most helpful at the resort. They helped us with finding attractions in the area because there is nothing around the resort.

Room Tip: Stay in the Sanibel tower and make sure your room faces the water since some are on the side and do...
