What a great place! Rooms all have ocean views, multiple pools and multiple restaurants and a spa! Spend the morning at the pool, head to your room late afternoon and it on the balcony and watch the dolphins jump and the sunset and then walk down for an awesome dinner! Park the car and never leave but if you want to get out you are just minutes from Sanibel/captiva or ft Myers beach.

Room Tip: Stay n the Sanibel building fr all waterfront views

We stayed for one night and had the best time. The hotel staff was amazing. All our whims were taken care of: top floor with a great view, extra towels, wine glasses brought to our room, 2 complimentary birthday cakes without requesting them, and 2 extra complimentary breakfasts. Wow! Everyone was so friendly. Will not hesitate to return.

Beautiful place to stay but prices on the high side. Some staff nice as can be while others rude as can possibly be. Disney has better room pricing/value. But my husband and children still had a great stay.

Recently taken over by Marriott in 2009. This resort has all the perks. Park your car and everything you need is on property. Outstanding service from the staff from arrival to departure. Beautiful guest rooms, bed and extra clean. Low rates in the summer. You will not be disappointed

Warning, this hotel is not located on Sanibel Island, plus there's no beach on the property that you can actually swim in. They have a beach, but it's for looks only, you wouldn't want to swim in it; full of seaweed and located near the pier and boating areas. Now that I have the warning out of the way, if you and your spouse are looking for a nice place to just unwind, this is the place. The hotel staff were friendly, and always very helpful. We spent an extended weekend at the resort; checked in on Thursday, not many people around, it was nice and quiet, just what we were looking for. We were offered the hotel main building (under renovation), or the Captiva Towers which was a 5-minute walk (3-minute trolley ride) from the main hotel. We opted for Captiva Towers because I knew the main hotel would be crowded with families by the weekend. Our room had a wonderful view of the Gulf of Mexico, the bridge and Sanibel Island. The sunsets from our balcony were beautiful! The only irritants were the nooseums (little flies, similar to specks of pepper), that came out early morning/evening. Their bites were painful, we learned this the hard way the first night we were there. Just remember to put on some insect repellants! As for the room itself, it was nice and spacious, the mattress was nice and fluffy! What irked us however were the following: the refrigerator door did not close properly, so we could never get our bottled water cold enough. As for the bathroom, it's dated, needs a little lift. We couldn't figure out if it came with an exhaust fan or if it was out of order. We didn't see a separate switch for the fan, and whenever we took hot showers, the room filled with steam. The property charges $15/day resort fee, which gives you use of the sauna, lap pool, swimnastics workout and yoga at the Spa building, plus use of bike to ride around the property, and fishing poles to fish from the pier, take advantage of these amenities, we did and we had fun! When we wanted to go to the other buildings, we just hopped on the trolley, or sometimes we opted to just walk to the restaurants or the spa. I wish they made the entrance to the resort easier to see from the main street. It's kind of hard to spot, especially if driving at night. Just remember, for the resort entrance, you need to make the right turn before you hit the toll booths to go into Sanibel Island. I could of spent my entire vacation inside the resort, but my husband wanted to go to the beach to swim and pick seashells. Very convenient access to Sanibel Island, just hop in your car, pay the $6 toll and cross the bridge. We would definitely stay in this property again.

Room Tip: Ask for high floor in Captiva Tower that overlooks the gulf.

I loved the spa at this Marriot and decided to do a staycation there. What a mistake.
The PLUS- The view from the room facing the water is awesome.
The MINUS- The beds were so bad we had terrible back aches. We had paid for three nights and were ready to go home after one night.
They have two pools. One of them is away from the big pool. It would make sense to me to make the smaller one an adult quiet zone pool. Instead the teens found it and all the adults ( who pay the bills and spend the money ) left the area. I suggested this policy to the front desk - ( big pool for kids/ smaller out of the way pool for adults) he just looked at me. The breakfast buffet was good - you have to ask for waffles/ omelets etc. No buffet breakfast during the week. We didn't find this out until we appeared for breakfast.
I know they were redoing the place. However, I didn't except to hear drilling on a saturday- all day !
Very disappointed- not upscale like I expect from Marriot.
$12.00 to self park a day plus 15.00 a day resort fee. WE couldn't even enjoy the pool.

We liked this hotel, but feel that after they finish their renovations it will end up being much nicer. The room we got was a little bit worn out, but overall the view of the bay was breathless. It is unfortunate that on a Saturday their Cabana Bar is not open until 4pm. It doesnt make sense that the only bar is the one by the pool, so if you want to be in an inside bar you have to wait until 4pm, while the staff is in there anyways just waiting to open.

Elevators are a little scary because the doors drag as if they were not going to close/open. The lobby is beautiful and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

Overall we enjoyed our stay and hope to go back once they finish the renovations

Room Tip: Overlooking the bay. Do not choose the Captiva Tower, the Sanibel Tower is the main hotel.
