Sanibel Harbour Marriott Resort & Spa

After handling family business, one looks for a quiet place too chill out.
That's Sanibel Harbor Marriott. Located right at the bridge crossing to Sanibel Island.
It has beautiful view. There is a great bar overlooking the water and pool area.
The resort has a great spa to get a massage. For a peaceful day, go to Sanibel Island.
For a more energetic day, go to Ft Myers beach. Ft Myers airport is about 20 minutes away.
I have stayed at this resort many times and have never been disappointed.
We were upgraded to a corner suite with a huge balcony.

Room Tip: There are two buildings. If you want to be in the center of the action, stay in the main facility. I...

The facilities can use some upgrades such as building painting and kids playgrounds maybe even small kids pool. The staff and service were really good. Breakfast buffet, excellent!

Just returned from a 2 night stay and we were thrilled. The Sanibel Tower has most of the ameneties - restaurants, fishing pier, bikes, 2 pools, and shops. The Captiva Tower is quieter, has a nice lounge, and a good pool. It's a short, shaded walk between towers and they run a trolley between resort buildings. Both buidling have harbor views so either tower is really fine.

The staff are exemplary with their customer service. It begins with the gatehouse calling reception to announce your arrival. As a result, the valets call you by name when they open your car door.

Every single member of their staff went out of their way to ask if we were enjoying our stay. We met the Chief of Engineering on the elevator who gave us a warm handshake. And we met the Assistant Manager who poured our wine and refilled our water glasses even though the restaurant staff were doing a great job of keeping us replenished. Their customer service skills exceed those of many 5 star resorts and they should be proud.

Our room was well appointed with a an incredibly comfortable bed and pillows. The room was quiet and the thermostat kept us very comfortable. Bathroom is very spacious with the sinks separated from tub/shower and toilet. Balcony is a bit narrow but there are 2 chairs and a large coffee table.

The view from the harbor side balcony is a delight. We saw lots of boats coming and going to the Gulf, pelicans, night time fishing, and even dolphins. Plus, the infamous sunsets.

We tried all 4 restaurants. Food was VERY good in each. Service was top notch. One "suprise" was that the steakhouse ran out of Chilean Sea Bass. The waiter recommended the grouper instead. Although it was tasty I was truly shocked upon getting the bill to see the grouper was $45 while the bass would have been $29. They really should advise if there is a significant price difference when they propose an alternative.

The work out facility is really large and lots of great equipment options. They also run about 2 fitness classes per day. Tennis courts were empty but they had several.

Enjoyed the rental bikes (they are part of your resort fee so use them!) and cruising around the resort. The walking paths give you an interesting insight to mangroves and there were fish literally jumping out of a little lake hidden amongst the trees.

I've seen the reviews about the need for updating. I didn't have that perception at all so maybe I was in a different tower or floor?

I will say that we have every intention of making this our "go to" place on the west coast. It is that good!

Room Tip: Rooms in the Sanibel Tower with even numbers face the harbor which is the better view.

I was not sure if I should keep this reservation or not based on some of the reviews I read on tripadvisor. Upon arrival, the place was clean, friendly and the staff could not have been nicer. The front lobby is beautiful and the views are amazing. We stayed in room 1166 in the main tower and it was delightful. I mean WOW - could not have been nicer.

We went to the gym every morning. It is a short, fun walk to a clean upscale gym. We used the Spa which is very good (but not great like the rest of the place), we had lunch a few times here. I thought the food was good and the prices very fair.

One day the toilet clogged up and they came right up and fixed it within minutes and then called us to make sure we were satisfied with the service and left us some candy too. We got a gift for stuffing up their toilet!

We loved the pool. We had great weather. Excellent service.

I have stayed at MANY 5 star hotels, and for those people who are expecting a 5 star, well it's not, but go to s 5 star and see what it's like, unless you are spending 3 times what this hotel costs you will get nothing more - nothing! This place - this place is WONDERFUL!

Go - Enjoy - Relax - THIS PLACE IS TERRIFIC!

LOVED IT !

Room Tip: 1166 - AMAZING! Get a room in the main tower facing the water!

My wife and I stayed here for a one night get-away for our anniversary. After reading several reviews we were hesistant to stay here. But our concerns were quickly put to rest after checking in. We stayed in the main building. The front desk allowed us to check in early and check out late. The room was great. The staff was wonderful, especially the pool staff. The grounds around the hotel are like a garden! No beach but Sanibel is just across the bridge.
Yes, the property is dated but we had no complaints

Room Tip: Ask for a high level room so you can enjoy the sunsets

The Sanibel Harbour Marriott was very nice and clean. Could update the carpets throughout the hotel and rooms. Very dated. I don't know why they would put a full length mirror in the bathroom and not in the bedroom and the 1 mirrow in the room is above the desk in the corner! What were they thinking? We asked for a king size bed room but received 2 queens facing the water which turned out to be the best view because we saw the beautiful sunsets every night.
Nice pool and small beach area and wasn't real crowded due to this being off season.
The restaurants on the premises are ok but not great. The food and service were average. They do have a starbucks in the lobby that is nice for those of us who drink coffee.

Room Tip: I would choose a room facing the water but not sure any have king size beds. Great sunsets.

We just returned from a wonderful long weekend at the Sanibel Harbour Marriott. First off, I had read the reviews here and was a bit tentative about making a reservation but decided in the end that the location, pool, and ease in getting to and from the airport would outweigh any negatives. In the end, I'm happy we went for all of the reasons above. I will completely agree with what others have said--the place should be in line for some upgrading, but nothing horrible and nothing that, in general, I haven't found at some very upscale hotels in any humid environment (i.e. the musty Caribbean hotel smell). You will absolutely be better off if you have a rental car--you can go over to Sanibel and also hit the supermarket/liquor store down the street where you can get around the overpriced drinks at the pool and grab your own snacks! The pool, ah, the pool! Spent two solid days at that pool and was the most relaxing we've done in a while! As mentioned, the drinks are expensive--to get around that we brought our own to the pool; but the food, while definitely hotel-priced, was not overly marked up for room service, and actually pretty good. It's not the Ritz, but that was ok with us. The staff was all very friendly and eager to make sure we were having a good stay. Stayed in the main building/Sanibel tower and had a beautiful view of the water with amazing sunsets and it was nice to be local to the pool, restaurants etc. If you're looking for highly upscale, do not go here, at least until they renovate--you will just find reasons to complain. If you want a nice locale, convenient to the airport, and Sanibel, with a nice pool and staff, this is your place.

Room Tip: We stayed in the main building based on recommendations here. Was convenient. Oceanview was totall...
