We visited in february and it was full of manatees. We decided to do some kayaking around them and it was one of the nicest kayaking experiences we ever had. I doubt it would have been nearly as impressive without the manatees though. So plan your visit taking this into account! Visit during the winter!!

We visited in May and knew there was almost no chance of seeing any manatees, and we didn't see any. But we still enjoyed this little park. I saw some armadillos, tortoise and some interesting insects. It was a pleasant walk with their gardens and walkways and some information about manatees and why they come to this park.

If you want to see Manatee`s this might be the place to go, but only during winter time. If you are in the area during summer time, don`t go there. The Manatees will only be there when the water is cold. During winter they enjoy the warm water from the nearby power plant. Unfortunately we did not know that and ended up not seeing any manatees at this location.

Although there weren't any Manatees the day that we stopped, others were saying that there was alot of them the morning before. Im guessing that morning may be a better time to catch them than the afternoon.
I have to say this was a very nice park and we saw other wildlife that made it fun. A whole mess of little red crabs and giant fish, cant remember what type they were but the park did have lots of informational signs so you would know what you were looking at.

The park is informational and a nice walk, however, it really is best in December-January when the gulf waters get too cold! The manatees come up into the canal by the power plant when it is cold and if the water is warming up, they will not be there! Check on trip advisor to see if people who have visited recently saw any of the wonderful animals -- otherwise you may be disappointed, especially if you have promised children that you will be seeing some manatees! We went twice -- once in January and once in February. Saw lots in January and one in February!
