We visited on a hot day in February thinking we may not see any manatees. But with a 5 minute walk we saw about a dozen from the walking path. Then I was able to convince my wife that we should rent kayaks to get closer to some. It was an easy paddle out and we asked people coming back in if they saw any and got great help. It might be hard to find some without asking others if they saw any so make sure you ask. Stopped at a couple of places where others had seen them and saw several. Very freaky when they swim right under your kayak. Makes you hope they dont come up under you. I didnt expect it to be exciting but it was, the paddle back upstream and into the wind gave me my workout for the day. Plan to spend at least an hour in the kayak and another hour in the park.
