this is a very small park which in itself is not worth a visit. so only go when the weather is cool in winter because that is the only time they are there.

It is a good location to see manatees. However, the gather for warm water that is discharge fom the electric plant. Go on a cool day or as late in the day as you can. They are gone during the day.

When we visited in late March the season to see Manatees was supposed to be mostly over. But we had unseasonably cold weather so the Manatees were still around. The park is situated on a river inlet near power plant that generates warm water. So the Manatees gather near the warm water. If the river and gulf waters are cold, there is a strong chance Manatees will be here.

The park itself is pretty nicely maintained. Plenty of parking and several areas to view Manatees from shore along the river. Its free of charge except hourly parking fee. So its a really inexpensive place to visit.

We arrived early (by 8:30am) and saw at least 4-5 Manatees. You can see them eating and coming to surface to breathe and also swimming in channel.

They offer kayak and canoe rentals. If it has been warmer and less windy, we probably would have rented. But since it was chilly and pretty windy, we only observed from shore.

We had a good time and were happy to see the Manatees. Our kids liked it a lot.

Keep in mind that the Manatees are wild and not captive. If the water conditions are right, you may see them. If the water in the river and gulf is warm, then the Manatees may not be at the park. Check the Manatee park web site for a daily report.

Great little park for a free view of the manatees - pay for parking $2 per hour on the honor system. Took my own kayak hoping to actually have a chance to kayak with manatees as the temperatures were in the low 50's. There were only a few in the viewing area and did feel one go under the boat as I went downriver a little way, but the water is so dark it is almost impossible to see them until they surface. The Green River is a very calm and easy paddle for families and beginners, with herons and, I suppose if you are lucky, manatees. They rent kayaks and canoes on site also.

We went with out grandkids, expecting there to be a boat ride to go out into the water and see the manatees. But alas, that stopped about 5 years ago (the last time we went), but there is a very nice park with very nice park rangers and it is located on the discharge river of the power company. There are manatees swimming around in the lagoon for you to watch but you have to be patient. It would be a little better if the walkway was actually a bridge over the lagoon so you could see directly down, but it is a walkway around the lagoon.
