Great Place to strop for an hour or so just to watch the manatees. They are mostly there in the winter when the water is cold since this is the discharge water from the power plant and it is warm. It only cost $1 to park and our kids had a great time.

The manatee park was great for everyone. It is better to go when the weather is cold because the manatees are more likely to be there due to the fact that they need the warmth of the water near the power plant to survive. Seeing these wild creatures was fascinating, they were sweet and gentle. The workers there were nice and very informative. Great place to spend some time.

We visited in Dec 2011 and saw just 3 manatees - and just snouts and the odd back - but it was 80 degrees and I think the gulf was warm enough during the day. We were told that you got better views first thing in the morning and last thing in the evening (dusk and dawn) on cold days for more manatees and better views .
The park is small - maybe an hours visit if you spend some time waiting for manatees to breathe !- though we spent two hours as we waited for the talk by the volunteers which was interesting and informative and clearly run by people who really do love the manatees !
If you are going just for manatees then make sure before you go that the weather is appropriate. Its a good day out though as long as you are not counting on a multiple manatee experience - and it is free with very cheap parking !

This is a walk along an estuary where manatees like to frequent because of the warm water coming out of the power plant. Walk along the estuary, see manatees. My kids were underwhelmed by the manatees (there weren't that many at the time b/c other waters were warmer, and mostly the manatees just poked their noses out and left), but there are a couple nice playgrounds, the grounds are clean, and there are clean bathrooms handy. Good for maybe an hour or so with small children.

We thought our viit to the manatee park wa nice. There was definetely enough viewing area for everyone to see. What was nice was , there was an activity for the kids to do, one for older kids and another for younger. The activity took you all over the park. When trying to search or locate the manatees in the water, it was fine but it took time to see one after seeing another. The only part of the manatee you saw was the very top part of their back and sometimes their nose but thats about it. This is something thats pretty short, and won't take to long to do. It was a good experience.
