Stayed in the clubhouse rooms last month. there are 8 above the clubhouse (separate from the hotel area). They are convenient in that you are right above the pro-shop and the steakhouse restaurant. Rooms are very well appointed with a wood and granite feel. oversize showers and baths.

Has some issue in my room with the phone and TV working. Also was unable to check in upon arrival as their system was down - hopefully they get the kinks worked out as the golf courses - red and blue - are both memorable and very unique for FL. Worth playing two to four rounds. Caddy service is very good.

The hotel has several additional restaurant offerings that we did not try however they looked very good. Would love to try the rooftop bar as they say the view is exceptional.

All in all, will return to play golf and enjoy some fine dining again.

Room Tip: rooms above clubhouse are very nice. go for the package with golf rounds.

Streamsong is an interesting effort, but at present falls short. There's the golf resort - two 18-hole links courses - and the hotel resort - a 200+ room property about two miles from the golf course. Several points:

Location ... it's in the absolute middle of nowhere. Driving here from Miami is a tour of the flats of central Florida - you drive for 100+ miles through the Everglades. There's one sign (thankfully, because the road the course is on does not exist on my 2014 GPS). This location has several implications: once you're here, you're trapped, and their ability to attract staff is limited (more on this later).

Golf course ... good points: some beautiful holes, three-dimensional landscape, wide fairways (good for me, anyway). The bad points: form has been allowed to get in the way of function - there are no benches, the cart-paths are poorly marked and sometimes unnavigable (soft sand), there are no green-to-tee direction signs or hole descriptions (except in the $10 book you can buy). This is all to preserve the "natural setting." Ok, fine, but most of the visitors are here on one-time trips, so it would be nice to help us out. Also, the course needs to do a better job at getting people out - you stand around with no idea where to go (no signs again) - you need to ask directions, you get vague hand-waves in return. Not good,.

Resort ... good points: very clean (VERY clean). Very new, modern, glass/steel/reclaimed wood, huge (is that good or bad?). Bad points: EMPTY. There are NO people here. The staff all say, "people will discover us," but right now they haven't. There are five restaurants - when we were there, three of them were closed. We ended up eating terrible bar food and drinking from their worse-than-mediocre wine list.

In general - the front desk staff at both the golf course and the hotel are rude and distracted. However the grassroots staff - the fore-caddy for golf, the waitresses, the lady who wheeled our bags to our room - all were really nice and we felt great giving them generous tips. But I think their location hurts them in finding qualified front-people.

All in all - they've spent a TON of money on this place. Right now I would not go back, nor would I recommend it to anyone. Hopefully they'll do better.

This review will be in 2 parts - first the golf experience and then the resort part
This is truly a unique golfing experience in this part of the USA - well designed courses in excellent condition, challenging especially for anyone who cannot play bump-and-run approaches, or for those who testosterone levels make them feel they have to overpower the course - it is unforgiving. You must take caddies for the 7-8 mile walk, and that is good because it makes the experience. The only negative is that we were told to expect a 4hr20 round and that teeing off at 2:30 would allow for easy completion before dark at 7:45 when the mosquitoes also emerge... this did not happen and we limped in after 5hrs30 in deep dusk. Comments to the pro shop the following morning elicited not much more than a " we will do better today and I will personally be marshalling today" but we never saw a marshall at all. The second day was faster, but it was also early morning, so...
Next, the resort--- the hotel design is quite magnificent and fits perfectly into the landscape; interior design is sleek, cool, clean, if a bit austere. Rooms are large and well designed and very comfortable with all the electronics, etc. Views are also cool. BUT service everywhere is lacking and there is no sign of management on the floor. Maybe it is a case of Mosaic just feeling that "if we build it, they will come", but that will not cut it with all the high end golf competition out there. Food was good quality, but wait staff struggle... it seems the kitchen knows what it is doing, but getting orders in and served correctly is not happening as it should at the prices they charge. A table of 7 gentlemen next to us all ordered steak and after 90 minutes, still had nothing, and I overheard them complain to the bar-tender who passed by that they will never come back... where was their server??
The resort is 30-40 miles from the closest town and they just cannot get service staff who will stay at their jobs for the wages they probably pay, when the commute is so long and expensive. And yes, the spa is way overpriced. And they want to charge $25 for spa access for sauna, etc on top of a $400 room rate. Oh, and when we checked in at 12:30, the room was not ready, which is ok because check in time is 3pm, but when we opened our suitcases to get golf clothes out so that we could change at the clubhouse, they miraculously found a room that was ready... what the ----?

Room Tip: Even numbers get sunset over the lake

OK, I'm spoiled rotten, having played a lot of great golf courses, but I just don't get this. Have played the Red and Blue, both are excellent, although the Red is a little edgier and dramatic. The facilities are first class, and I agree with most recent reviewers that the service is inconsistent, yet prices come with a five star ticket. While I drove down from north central Florida on two occasions to play each course, I doubt whether I will return. The layouts were very similar, unusual with the dramatic sand dunes, very well conditioned, but for me not worth the 3 hour round trip drive and a $200 greens fee once I've played them. The alternative to the drive would be to stay in an ultra expensive hotel room in the middle of nowhere, with no beach, shopping, bars or restaurants outside the facility, and no I don't care for the bass fishing and skeet shooting they offer as an aside. Seems to me it was a grande scheme of the Mosaic Company's CEO, likely a golfer, to show that something can be done with reclaimed phosphate mining land in the middle of nowhere Florida. I've been watching for the earnings disclosures to see if this makes any financial sense, but I'm dubious.

I just returned from Streamsong Golf Resortn in Bowling Green FL along with 7 other fellow golfers. One of the players in our group made all the arrangements to travel to Florida to stay and play.

We had never heard of Streamsong before we had booked our trip in November 2013. Since November and March we found that the good word had spread about the "Bandon Dunes of the East"

We are experienced Golf destination travelers. We have traveled to the finest Golf Destinations in Scotland, Ireland, Pebble, and Pinehurst.

Here are our thoughts about the trip.

Hotel: Awesome Architecture. Staff was very friendly and willing to serve. Rooms were great! New beds, Wifi, spacious, and a great bathroom.

Hotel food: The restaurants at the hotel were not quite there yet. The menus for the Sotto Terra & P205 were limited. The service was slow and lacking in fine cuisine experience.

Golf Course: Both the Blue and the Red course were amazing layouts. The conditions were superb. The pace of play was too slow at times. Our rounds averaged close to 5 hours. This is something they need to address if they want repeat golf business.

Golf services: The caddies are awesome. They rival any high end golf destination. The pro shop handled all the normal requests that you would expect at a top flight facility.

Overall thoughts: I would have to say overall it was a great experience. Golfing in the low 70's always helps. Streamsong will have to up its game in a few areas to compete with the Pinehurst's, Pebble Beach's, and Kiawah's of the world. They need to speed up play. They will have to improve on their food and restaurant service.

My guess is they will do so. I plan on booking another trip in March of 2015.

This brand new resort constantly amazes. From its gorgeous location and stunning architecture, to its gracious staff and world-class activities, this site has it all. Streamsong Red and Blue are currently ranked #2 and #3 in Florida. Naturally, this kind of golf speaks for itself. What's not to be forgotten is the unique spa (Grotto!), bass fishing (With guides), and clay shooting (Weapons provided). And this is where the staff shine. They are gracious in shuttle service, meal service, and every other kind of guest service. Let them show you around and point out their favorite parts or family's history in the area. By the time you've had your fill of hospitality, you will have eaten your way through some outstanding meals and watched the spectacular sunset from the roof-top bar. Sure they just opened and are working out some kinks. Be a part of their success. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Room Tip: Odd numbered rooms catch the sunrise, and even numbered the sunset. Every room is remarkable.

We stayed at Streamsong at the new lodge that has just opened. The rooms were spacious and well decorated, although a little "corporate" in their impression. Very nice bathroom with large shower and two sinks. The room was set up with a sofa on one side, Plasma TV and large counter in between and bed on the other side. Design worked pretty well.

The resort is located in quite a remote area about an hour plus from Tampa. It is quite scenic with the dunes, wild grasses and a lot of waterfowl, other birds and other wildlife.

As might be expected, they are trying hard but have some very rough edges in familiarity with their facilities, eg, staff at P2O5 restaurant not fully familiar yet with the menu/beverages, and with directions from the Tampa airport, but I regarded this as minor and they are trying very hard to provide excellent service and generally do so.

There is a shuttle to the golf courses and that ran very regularly and well, with about 10 minutes delay tops.

In my mind, the real reason to come is the two outstanding links style golf courses on the property and they are among the best I've played--on a par with the Irish course at the American Club and just shy of Whistling Straits (only because these lack the spectacular lakeside view). Here the dunes are enormous and left over from potash mining tailings that collected the sand to form the dunes. They make the courses gorgeous and a true links experience.
