We ate at Waxy’s three times over a two week period – before, between and after two back to back cruises.
The first was a Thursday evening and it was evident that the crowd on a weekday is more local than tourist. The other evenings were a Friday and a Saturday when the crowd was definitely made up of tourists. The difference in atmosphere was very noticeable. The Thursday crowd was up dancing and interacting with each other, whereas on the Friday and Saturday they were having fun but keeping more to themselves. Two of the three nights there were small bands and both were very entertaining.
The food here is pub food but very good pub food. The wings and hamburgers are worth coming here all by themselves – but be warned – you have to be hungry as the portions are HUGE.
Service was good two out of the three nights – with the other night being quite suspect. I think it was just the one server – she was lazy and since we were part of a larger group she knew she was getting the automatic tip and definitely didn’t work for it. The other two nights our servers were very friendly, attentive and efficient.
This is a fun restaurant and we highly enjoyed ourselves.
