I must say that I am truly disappointed with the Marriott Beach Place staff. When we arrived on July 19th at approximately 2:30, we were told our room was not available and that they would call us once it's ready. We politely left and waited for the call. It was getting close to 4 pm and check in is at 4 pm. We decided to go back to the lobby....it was now 4:15 pm. We were told that our 1 bedroom unit wasn't ready but the efficiency section was. We could go to the efficiency section and we would get a call once it was ready. Once inside the efficiency section, we had a message saying our entire unit was available now. Apparently the staff doesn't communicate well here with each other. We had to call the lobby to have keys sent up to us to get into our 1 bedroom unit. The bellman brought up keys and they did not work. He had to go back down to get more keys. Once we were inside our entire unit, we noticed that the room was dusty, like it had been shut up for weeks and never cleaned. We were told that a manager inspects all rooms once they are cleaned. They said they would have our unit cleaned again. Once the unit was cleaned, we noticed that no Manager came to inspect the unit.
Our refrigerator had a bottom freezer which would not close properly and it would not open all the way. They sent maintenance to check. He used the rooms hair dryer and got the door to open more and it sealed somewhat right for a day. We had to call again with the same issue. Maintenance came, did the same thing and left. When we called, yet again, with the same issue, we were told that nothing was wrong with the freezer. This time, we waited for maintenance to arrive and my husband showed him the problem. It was obviously broken and not sealing right. We finally got the refrigerator replaced! We were also told that maintenance comes into each room to spot check everything in the units. Two outlets did not work and the refrigerator had issues. Not very good spot checking!
One thing I love to do during my vacation is to swim in the mornings because of Marriott's heated pools which feels so good and gets me energized for the day. Our first day here, I tried out their pool and it took my breath away. It was too cold. My husband went into the lobby to ask them to heat it. They said they would have someone look into it. The water never got warmer. We were told by Marriott Staff that the pool reads 85 degrees and that is what The Health Department regulates them at. It sure didn't feel like 85 degrees! After the third day by the pool, we noticed other people complaining about the water temperature. We then knew it wasn't just us! My husband went back in to complain and was told it would be looked into. After about half an hour, we saw no one at the pool checking on the water temperature. My husband marched back in and demanded the water to be checked. The staff said that the maintenance was checking the water temperature from another location. What a crock!!!! My husband demanded for a thermometer and have the water checked from the pool. We were told, yet again, by the General Manager that they have to follow Health Department regulations. We called the Health Department and found out that no such regulation exists on swimming pools. We were lied to!!!! Do these employees not know that it is our Association fees that keeps them in a job? After dealing with Marriott's Advocate over an overwhelming amount of emails and my husband calling them out on their lies, the pool finally got heated at the 85 degrees that they said it was at on our first day. The pool is great now!!!
On our second day here, we were outside our balcony and noticed that no one was at the pool which was odd. I wanted to go swimming but didn't want to waste my time going down if the pool was closed. I called front desk 3 times and no one answered. My husband tried calling as well and got no answer. He then called the concierge and was switched to activities. My husband asked if the pool was open and explained why he was asking. She laughed and said it was definitely open. We went downstairs and saw that the pool was closed. Irritated, we went into the lobby to complain. Three people were working the front desk, chatting amongst each other. They obviously looked too busy to answer our calls. We complained but they didn't care.
This Marriott does not pay any attention to detail. Things will not get fixed until a guest complains. We noticed that they have fruit flavored water in the lobby for guests but no cups to retrieve the water. When we received our welcome packet, iit contained outdated activities. We had to go back to the lobby to get an updated list.
Also, the Market Place has downsized tremendously to make room for Marriott's sales gallery. We, as owners, are penalized so Marriott can have a sales gallery to get suckers to buy into these timeshares. I wish Marriott would buy ours back but that will never happen. We are stuck.
