“Great pool and beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 22, 2013

Pros:
-beach across street is wonderful
-nice pool with food and drink available, towels provided
-good, walkable location to restaurants, CVS
-our 1 bedroom villa was spacious, clean, and huge
-lemon/strawberry water in main lobby is nice
-staff was friendly and helpful
-on-site market with Starbucks coffee
-14th floor overlook is a nice, quiet views/lounge spot
-many activities were available during our stay: zumba, water fitness, salsa lessons

Cons:
-elevators can be slow during peak hours
-property entrance is difficult to find
-inconvenient to bring beach chairs/umbrellas across the street from hotel to beach
-lots of families and kids
-beach and pool crowded on weekends and afternoons
-music from restaurants is loud in evenings for lower level hotel rooms
-internet was spotty

Tips:
-stay on a higher floor for a quieter stay, ask for ocean view
-take advantage of pool, beach in the morning to avoid crowds

As somebody who stays in hotel's 180+ nights per year, I know my Marriott's and Hilton's. This one is the armpit of either chain. The rooms are at best average, with cleaning that hardly makes you feel like somebody else was there. The "restaurant" if you want to call it that, has very little to choose from, doesn't open until 7am and closes at 5 pm. The one time I made it back in time to try and get dinner there, they had already closed at 4:45. Like TDATL said in his review, the hotel may as well be camouflaged, but you can find it by the single sign on the road that is in 12 font.

The elevators are tremendously slow. The pool which was supposed to open at 7AM, opened over 15 minutes late, which made it difficult to get to the restaurant, which by the way was not open. The Breakfast sandwich that they offer is actually made in the little marketplace. The marketplace was the only thing that made this feel like a Marriott, as they made sure to charge $8.00 for a microwaveable sandwich that costs $1.25 at the store and that they charged $14/day for parking.

Overall, I would highly recommend you stay away from this Marriott.

We are disappointed to read that you did not enjoy your stay at Marriott's BeachPlace Towers. The resort is not a typical hotel experience and provides guests with many additional amenities, services, activities and luxury villa accommodations. You mentioned comments about the restaurant; however, this location does not have a full-service restaurant onsite. There are many food and beverage options available within a short walk of the resort if the limited offerings at BeachPlace Towers do not meet your needs. Your satisfaction is very important to us and if we did not provide the Marriott level of service that you expect and deserve, we would like an opportunity to appropriately address your experience. Please contact our Customer Care office via email at Customer.Care@vacationclub.com or at 800-860-9384 so that we can personally respond your concerns.

You will never find this property using it's street address, shared by the CVS on the street side, but hidden away on the 3rd level of the vacation market place is a locked elevator lobby with a buzz in to the lobby. (Find a security guard, tip him nicely and you might get to your rood that night!). The tropical paradise experience begins as you await the elevator in the smelly, cramped elevator lobby that doubles as the property's sauna.

Escalators to/from this lofty 3rd level entrance operate about one-third of the time.In defense of the "hotel", they turned one of the 4 elevators into a work elevator for the refurbishing crew that often overflows out onto guest-room floor's lobby with their Spanish babble.

After a forced welcome at check-in (so what if you're a life time Marriott Platinum member?), it's back to the elevators to wait. And what a lovely surprise awaits you upon arrival at the room.... the smell like wet baby diapers really is really the smell of a soaking wet hotel carpet that the desk did not see fit to ask/warn/apologize for.

Marriott want to re-monetize the capital it spun off with these resorts and fold their vacancies back into their corporate reservation system. Be warned, anything Marriott knows about business hotels (this thing is next to a Ritz Carlton and two blocks from a Westin with convention center) they failed to pass on to the "Don't Worry Be Hoppy" world of Marriott resorts

Room Tip: Use only for spring vacations.

We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your experience at Marriott's Beachplace Towers. The elevator experience you describe is actually part of the Beachplace mall parking garage. Our resort is at the top of the complex and offers spectacular ocean and intercostal views.

I love Marriott, and this is one of the reasons why. This hotel is in the heart of everything that you could want.

Rooms are very nice with higher end furnishings, granite and stainless steel appliances. I love the washer and dryer in the kitchen.

The staff was warm and friendly.

My only complant was the elevator. This hotel is set up off a parking garage and the elevator is the main source of entery.

I had to wait for over 10 minutes just to get into the hotel to check in. The next day, it was over a half hour just to get to the lobby. I would have taken the stairs but I had alot of bags to carry.

Room Tip: Request oceanfront!

I will say try in one summary and while still staying at this hotel that the welcoming has been really bad. The associate Craig Cole I believe, Front Office supervisor, struggled to check us in because apparently one of the bookings could not be found( later on we found out it was a no show by mistake), secondly he repeated to us 'the owners are first' about four times when he was looking for accomodation. I don't think he even noticed we had stayed before as he tried at the end to explain the locations like this will make me feel better. I think if I was an owner I would like other guests to be welcomed as well, just for repeated business, but I guess here they just want you to know that if you are not an owner it better be other place. Last, today father's day my husband had another charge on his card, the first one was a no show for a confusion on the reservation.Nice present! Our entire family work in hotels and we know how to make feel someone welcome. This was not! We have visited Beach Place several times in the last 4 years. It is really disappointing .

Marriott's Beachplace Towers is a vacation ownership resort which means it is owned by the individuals who purchased an ownership interest. As such, first priority for all room assignments goes to the owners of the resort.

We stayed for 5 nights in April. The rooms was great. We had just a studio room. I would have liked ocean view, but the intercoaster view was alright. The staff was wonderful. The room was great for just the two of us, and we appreciated the kitchenette.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2013 via mobile

I read numerous reviews prior to arriving at this resort, and I was somewhat nervous about what I'd find when I opened the door to my villa. First of all my husband and I arrived in our rental car and had no issues finding the garage entrance. There are actually two. The reports of no signs is greatly exaggerated. We saw huge signs with arrows multiple times on each floor as we made our way to the 4th floor. The elevator wait was longer than usual but we knew to expect it and it was fine. We entered the newly remodeled lobby and thought WOW, this doesn't look old or in need of a facelift. We soon learned the lobby and the 18th and 19th floor renovations were completed the first week of June. To our surprise our request for an intercostal view on a high floor was accommodated. We were the first occupants of our newly renovated room on the 19th floor. As we exited the elevators we immediately noticed the new carpet, paint and furniture in the lookout area on the ocean view side of the building. There were big bows on each of the villa doors. When we entered it was like walking into a new resort villa. The carpets, furniture, bath fixtures and tile were new. The shower curtain was still stiff and starched as if it was just taken out of the packaging. The location of the resort can't be beat, and the mall below is great for close dining options and the 24 hour CVS. Everything is within walking distance and the beach is across the street. I felt the need to write a detailed review because I believe the renovations make this the perfect option for a Ft Lauderdale vacation. They are currently working on the 15th, 16th, and 17th floors. The entire renovation is expected to be completed in October 2013. My advice is to ask for a newly renovated room if you plan to visit before October. After that all rooms should be great.
