“Clean, but a bit old”

Great location and clean, but I was expecting more modern rooms. Understaffed front-desk as I had to queue for 15-20 minutes to check-out.

I have been going to this hotel for many years, when it was still called "Yankee Clipper".. It has always been the most reasonably priced place for the beach location.Even though, it is not a high star rated hotel, the beach is better and less crowded than the more priced neighbor hotels.People are very nice, always ready to help and accommodate., especially, in the restaurant.Rooms are clean, lots of them have great views of the ocean and around. The lunch area is overlooking the ocean and the pool, so you can see the kids. The main attraction is the bar area where you can see the second pool outside and swim there, with the aquariums everywhere. The second pool is inside the hotel, so if it's windy, you are safe to swim there. It's very nice! During the school holidays/breaks there are a lot of programs for kids that are run by very friendly and fun people.
We really enjoy going tot his place!!!

Room Tip: The top floor is less noisy.

The Hotel is right on the beach so if you love a great beach location this is the place for you. If not a beach person try somewhere else . As a SPG member the hotel is not up to par with other propertys but had a clean room, friendly staff and a nice pool. Would return

First off, this hotel has a great location right on the beach in Fort Lauderdale. I was in town for one night and decided to check it out for future use as a place to stay before going on a cruise.

The hotel staff were friendly, but for SPG members there did not appear to be an SPG Gold and Platinum line and lines can be substantial at this hotel as it does a lot of work with cruise passengers.

I was given an 'upgraded' room in the Beach building. Not really sure how much of an upgrade this was as there is no parking for this building and it is quite a walk with your luggage from the parking garage which they charge $20 for. The walk does include having to go for a bit without cover so if it is raining you will get pretty wet.

Room was not very clean, socks were black after a few trips across the floor. Furniture was cheap and not well organized. Additionally, it looked like it had been there for about 10 years as it was beaten and stained.

The worst part of the whole experience were the beds and the lack of seal around the hallway door. I could feel the springs in the beds and could hear every single noise from the hallway. Lots of kids running up and down the hall at all times. Had to call security to see if they could get them to be quiet. Could not get to sleep until 1:30 in the morning due to the uncomfortable beds and then got woken up at 3 by drunks coming home and being very noisy. I understand this is not the hotel's fault but the lack of seal around the door so that I could hear them is and given the area and customer base I would imagine noisy kids and drunks are not an uncommon experience.

Overall, it could be a good place if they cleaned up a bit and bought the right sized doors for the openings they have. I personally won't be going back.

Room Tip: Avoid the beach building if you can.

We booked this hotel through a very reliable agency in UK. We asked for and booked a double room with king sized bed and requested a room in the beach block of rooms. On the advice from of reviews I joined the hotel loyalty scheme.I emailed them in advance and repeated the request for a room in the beach block, and also advise on how to get to the hotel from Miami airport. They received the email but never replied. We were allocated a room in the main block overlooking the very busy road. After much complaining, and threatening to go elsewhere, we were first of all allocated a room in the block over a car park, then eventually given a twin room in the beach block, and charged $80 a night extra for the 3 nights we stayed.
The hotel is in a perfect location for the prom, beach, marina, and for numerous restuarants.

Room Tip: Only stay in the beach tower, if there are really no rooms there, make sure you have a room in the m...

My daughter and I booked this hotel for one night before our cruise. Perfect location! Right on the beach. Easy walk to lots of shops and restaurants. Our room was quite and had a nice view of a marina. We were in the Marina Tower 10th floor. Bed was comfortable. We walked to The Oasis Cafe. (sat in swings for dinner) which was fine for us and continued our walking adventure. In the morning we did find the lobby a congested mess as everyone was there trying to check out and figure out cruise ship transfers. And the coffee shop is very expensive and slow.I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. I would absolutely stay here again. The Mermaids were a fun treat too.

I booked this hotel on hotwire for my daughter and myself to stay in pre cruise. She specifically wanted the beach and this hotel is in a lovely setting. Check in was courteous and prompt and we were offered 2 double beds instead of one king. We were in the the separate tower but did overlook the beach, and a major road!. I was worried it would be noisy but we had a fabulous nights sleep, the beds are so comfortable. We did meet a group of friends to eat in the restaurant for dinner, I was not impressed with it. It was way too noisy and the food only very average. I would recommend this hotel for the comfort of it's beds and sevice but above all for the setting on the beach
