“Pleasant experience on return to Bahia Mar”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 30, 2013

My wife and I had stayed at the Bahia Mar a few years back before it was a Hilton property and renovated. The service at that time was lacking, but we liked the location and were curious to see what improved rooms and the Hilton brand would add.

I don't know if it is directly related or not, but the service was good this time around. Got early check-in and everyone was pleasant. The bartenders at the pool were nice. The location was as we remembered. The rooms were given a facelift and the beds were comfortable.

We will likely return to the Bahia Mar our next time in the area.

Having read quite a few reviews before our stay I will start by saying that either the elevators are normal, or we are the luckiest elevator people in the world. We stayed on the 14th floor and never waited more than about 30 seconds for an elevator over the course of two nights and multiple trips in and out of the room (from beach to pool, etc---and with two 13 year old boys you can imagine that we had quite a few trips on those elevators). Room was new and clean. Chairs are plastic, didn't expect that, but that is my only complaint. Front desk staff is outstanding, pool, tennis courts, and fitness center are open 24hours (we played until 2am), bridge to beach is great. Only complaints are that 1) breakfast is not only not free, but is expensive -- $62 for my wife and boys (not including me), and 2) parking is not free---don't remember amount but I think it is about $25 per night or so. However, based on the service we received, I'm willing to look past both issues and would definitely stay at this hotel again.

The downside is that this hotel looks its age...rooms ok, halls musty, limited services in hotel. Quirky poolside bar schedule. Everything else was great...rooms completely acceptable. Dive lessons readily available at onsite dive shop.
This hotel straddles two marina areas with amazing boats, yachts, and ships. Beach readily accessible by overpass pedestrian bridge. Walking the area is great...lots of beach-side shops, bars, and easy places to eat with sidewalk
seating.

I would stay again and recommend it, so long as you think the price is reasonable, and you don't want to be charmed by the hotel itself.

Location : PERFECT. Isolated from the other luxurious hotels, you reach them easily by 10 min of walk on the beach.
Access to the beach : very easy and convenient. As there is no other huge hotels aside, you feel like having your own private beach.
Swimming pool : very pleasant and quiet. With the view on the marina and 3 tennis courts. Fitness room.
Staff : very nice and helpful.
Room : clean, big, with a huge closet near the bathroom, very comfortable bed, quiet, with a micro-wave in each room. I was on the top floor, (16th), half view on the marina and the beach.
Gift Jewelry shops : they offer real nice varieties of jelweries and art paintings.

The hotel might look a bit old with no hint of luxury, but it does offer all the comfort needed for a weekend on the beach. I would definitely return there.
The plus : it is located near the Taxi Boat station: perfect location, compare to most of other hotels which are located much further away.
And FREE wifi access in your room and even at the swimming pool!

Room Tip: I was on top floor (16th floor), which was very quiet.

The quality of the hotel was pretty good...a little dated but you can tell it has recently been upgraded. We stayed for 3 nights in April and didn't really want for anything. We are pretty low maintenance couple, though. The food downstairs in Breezes restaurant was pretty good and we also tried little market across the parking lot (I forget the name), also pretty good. I used the gym, which has almost anything you could want including a daily morning bootcamp! We also spent time at the pool, which provided water and towels to guests. There is also a bar. We enjoyed the easy beach access as well. One thing that we did not do, but a great idea was bike rentals. You can add a bike rental to your bill through the hotel. The property is clean, beds are very comfortable, and the staff is friendly & helpful.

Now for the bad: No room service. Parking is expensive ($21/night to self park, $25/night to valet). We opted to self park because it is near the entrance anyway. The elevators were small and painfully slow. We were on the 16th floor and had to wait longer than usual to receive an elevator or to get down to the first floor. It wasn't a deal breaker, but noticable. Also, there isn't a whole of things to do nearby except visit the beach. There are some restaurants, and a neighboring dock with activities running out of it but everything is expensive (of course! It is Fort Lauderdale!).

Room Tip: Rooms in the tower are nicer.

Stayed for 5 days in early April. Was very quiet which was a bit surprising, but that was towards the end of spring break vacations. Had an ocean idea room which was nice other than the plastic chairs. Close to everything and fairly reasonable (rates had just dropped). I would call this a "good" hotel; better than average but at the low end of very good.

Room Tip: Go for ocean view if available.

We really enjoyed our stay here; very clean, helpful and attentive staff. The location was perfect, right at the beachfront and 2 short blocks from the strip with lots of shops, restaurants. Would stay there again.
