This is a typical Marriott, which is meant as a complement. Beautiful hotel, very nice rooms, great view, good restaurants and very friendly staff. They have their own private beach, a nice spa and a Starbucks in the lobby. What more can you ask for

Room Tip: They charge $60 more than rack rate for an Ocean view. I'm not sure its worth it and I'd as...

First to say we are pretty tough with reviews. MOST hotels do not receive a "5" from us. However, I have to say overall - this one is a truly a 5!

We stayed two nights post cruise to relax. We arrived and the hotel was very busy with departing cruisers heading over to their ship. We are Marriott Elite members and were rewarded with an upgraded room with an oceanfront view/balcony. And, even better, it was very early in the day and we were given a room right away. Ok, it was near the elevator and we were told this so we knew going in the location. It really was not a problem - quiet, did not hear much noise other than just a bit early in the night but nothing more than we haven't had in a requested quiet room that many times - turns out to not be quiet.

Room was very nice. OK, so the carpet was a bit old and had a few lumps. Room had a terrific view, bed was comfortable. I don't stay at a hotel for a terrific new carpet! Weather was crap our first day and rained most of the day. We went had appetizers and drinks at Sea Level under cover. Service and food were just fine. Had a few drinks on our balcony and watched the ships going by and the rain. Not the hotels fault that the weather was crap.

Walked over to the Sheraton which is nearby for dinner just to explore a bit. Not that our hotel does not have options, but like to see what else is out there. Yikes! We were not happy there at all. A dark bar that serves burgers and a Mexican restaurant. We did eat there, food was actually quite good but $100 for a Mexican dinner? Guacamole for $15.00? Yes, it was all freshly made and good but we were just surprised by the prices more than anything for what it was.

Next day, weather turned better. We are familiar with the area further down the street so walked over to "All About Food" a terrific carry out sort of place that serves GREAT FOOD. Ok, no atmosphere at all but Great food! We had breakfast and just sat outside on their patio with tables and chairs. Good prices. And, they have beer/wine too so a cheaper option to get some carry out if you want to have a few beverages yourself without paying the expensive hotel, restaurant prices. We also stopped in at Bahia Mar Doubletree for a couple of Mimosa's as they have a pretty good deal on them and Bloody Mary's.

For the day we actually sat in a private area with a few chairs on a deck that was located directly between the pool and the beach. Liked the quiet as it turned out to be our own as no one else came to use it. All the workers that came by, greeted us warmly. It was enjoyable for what we like to do.

Ate that evening at 3030 Ocean. Not sure how anyone can say that this is not a great restaurant after looking over some of the other reviews. Probably not a great restaurant for people with children as it is more for fine dining but there were people there with children and they managed to find options too. We enjoyed our dinner. Not cheap but not over the top either, especially as the food was excellent along with the service.

Would I return to this hotel? Yes! There are a lot of hotels to choose that are still close to the cruiseport and airport (and we have used MANY of them in the area) but I also like that this one has a nice beach, good bars, good service and genuinely seems to care about their customers. Is it an older hotel, yes, but it has character and we felt like we wanted to return so they did right by us!

Room Tip: Oceanfront has great views and nice balcony to sit on and watch the world go by.

This hotel was overall really great. It is very close to the airport, awesome beach views, so plan on spending time on the beach! The staff was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Valet parking is the way to go too. This is a resort, and therefore has resort prices. Breakfast and the onsite restaurants are expensive. The only reason I did not give this hotel an excellent rating is there are not a lot of dining options nearby. You have to drive and drive 2+ miles to get to a good! reasonably priced restaurant. It would be awesome if the hotel did provide a shuttle service for a radius, even for a small price...

We stayed at the Marriot for two days last week on our way down further South. We were very excited to stay at the hotel bc of the private beach and the great location. Well, that is the only good thing about the property. When we pulled in the Valet's were understaffed and unpleasant. When we found our way to the front desk we were shocked that they could not honor the room we booked through Orbitz and was given a room looking at a wall. Mind you, I had my wife and Son with me and it was there first time to Lauderdale. The front desk attendant said that bc of the issue we would get a free cabana at the beach pool. Well that was not much of a free thing bc it rained all day long and when we had a brief opening for sun, we found ourselves in the dirtiest most outdated cabana I have ever been in. Seen nicer in the DR and Costa Rica. The hotel room we very small and dirty and the restaurants were awful. The only amazing about this place is the beauty of it being on a private beach and the staff down at the beach bar are amazing. This is a horrible hotel for a family and not much better for a getaway. Would be a great hotel for a convention but that's about it.

I stayed here for a big meeting and it was great. The hotel was very busy but the I didn't need to wait long for anything at the reception. The morning view and walk at the beach was fantastic. The hotel food was good and the hotel and rooms were clean and tidy.

I made the decision to stay at the Marriott to celebrate my birthday in Fort Lauderdale. The hotel is much older than I had expected. Self parking is $25.00 per day.

The rooms feel older. I wanted a king bed and uptown checking there was no availability, so we ended up with double beds. I was given champagne and cupcakes to alleviate the bedding mishap. The double bed is a double, for one person. There's a mini bar in the room not refrigator, it's $25 for a regular refrigator. Bathrooms are standard.

The pool area and beach areas are adequate. I didn't have the sudden urge to jump into the beach nor pool. The furniture around the pool area needed to be washed down, as it had a lot of sand.

We walked from the hotel towards Fort Lauderdale beach which was very relaxing and scenic. Perhaps I am comparing but, if I had to pick again I would go to the Marriott in Marco Island over this property.

This hotel was amazing. The room was sizable and included the standard safe, fridge, etc. as well as the Marriott bathrobes. Outside was equally as impressive. They have a small area for patrons on the beach as well as 2 hot tubs and a very large pool. Cookies and lemonade are served at 2:30 and Starbucks has tastings in the lobby in the evening!

The only thing that cost this place a star is the pricey food. The breakfast buffet was $28 a person. Similarly, the restaurants are expensive. You can sit in the bar but the menu is small and mostly appetizers.

Still, that is the only downside.
