We stayed at the Lago Mar on Dec 17 and 18th after a cruise, and we loved it. the hotel itself is beautiful and classy. It is maintained perfectly, everything is painted, polished and gorgeous. The front office staff was very nice, and the doormen and concierge were pleasant and helpful. We were shown to our room by William, who was very friendly and happy. We had a deluxe poolside one bedroom suite, and it was very, very nice. There was no musty smell like there sometimes is in a tropical place. The Bed was comfortable and the sheets were luxurious. The room had a small kitchen area, clean as a whistle, complete with all dishes and pans you would need and a small bottle of dish liquid and dishtowel. The refrigerator is full sized, with plenty of room. You could easily spend a couple of weeks in total comfort there if you go to the store for a few things to cook in the room like we did. Theres a huge living room, dining area, 2 bathrooms, and 2 TV's. The property has 2 big, beautiful pools, heated and really clean, with plenty of chairs. I guess during the week would be a little nicer than on the weekends, because there were dozens and dozens of kids everywhere. They were behaving, but they make a huge amount of noise, you'll have to bring an ipod if you don't want to listen to it, we didn't but we wished we had. The food was kind of hit or miss. The soda shop made a really good ham and turkey on a croissant, and the fries at the ocean grill were great. We didn't use the beach but walked down there to look. Nicely maintained and private, but found it a bit strange that they want even the hotel guests to pay to rent a chair or umbrella. They have them all chained up. The chairs are already owned by the hotel, and they're already on the beach, it's not like it's going to cost anything to let someone sit in a chair. Weird for such a classy place, but we didn't use the beach anyway so it didn't matter.

All in all a nice place, would definately stay again, and would recommend it highly. We've stayed at other hotels in the area before and this was by far the nicest, and it was a little less expensive than the one the cruise ship was offering. Really, the only negative thing was that somewhere below us, there was a door that kept slamming, and it shook the whole area around our room. Luckily they stopped using it about 11 p.m. thankfully, because it was really loud.

We have just spent one night at this resort. The first thought on arrival was beautifully decorated hotel at Christmas time, and lovely atmosphere. We were in a 1 bedroom executive suite with a pool and partial ocean view. The room was nice, but a little musty smelling. Could be from the hotel's age. The bathroom was very nice with good lighting, and mirrors.

I have just eaten the buffet breakfast and wasn't impressed at all. The buffet itself looks like cafeteria food. It isn't nicely presented, and there are lots of things missing, like fresh berries and nuts to put on oatmeal. It looks like they just used the cheaper variety of fruit instead. It was very boring, and kind of reminded me of a 1-2 star version of a breakfast buffet. Not appetising at all!

What is with no soy milk at this property? I tried ordering a soy milk cappucino in both coffee areas of the hotel and they have no soy milk! I have never heard of this before, as most people nowadays do order soy with their coffee, or have an intolerance to cow's milk.

We also ate dinner in the hotel restaurant last night and found it average. I ordered chicken on ravioli, and found my meal completely drowned in oil, and the vegetables not even edible because they were so greasy.

Would I stay here again? Probably not. There are too many choices in the Ft Lauderdale area. We only chose this property because it was close the cruise ships. The food really needs to come up to standard, as it is important when one chooses a property.

We just returned from 6 days in Fort Lauderdale at the Lago Mar Resort. We were extremely pleased with the location (on the beach), seclusion (away from the really touristy parts of FtL), the room (small suite with full kitchen), and perhaps most of all the service from the concierge staff. They helped arrange 3 days of golf at really nice courses, recommended several restaurants, all of which were outstanding, and were generally available for all questions. Special thanks to Ron for the golf arrangements.

I have vacationed on many of the islands and this is as close as you can get without leaving the states. Our room in the main building was exquisite. Spacious suite with huge deck. (I wish we did not have to share it with two other rooms; however, that will be my only complaint). The beach is perfect with Palm Trees if you need a natural escape from the sun. Relaxing, comfortable and grounds that are beautiful. For those looking for activities, there are beautiful pools, tennis courts and mini-golf. Fort Lauderdale is fun; however, I would not have been happy in a high rise across the street from the beach with thousands of tourists, chaos and congestion. The Lago Mar gives you the best of both worlds, privacy and tranquility, steps from white sand and the ocean. Yet, when you are looking for some activity, head out to Las Olas Boulevard for restaurants, shops, etc. LagoMar is pricey so we take advantage of the off season rates in May. Except for a few cloudy days, the weather was in the 80's.

We will definitely return and bring friends.

Room Tip: If you want the most prestigious rooms, request a room in the Main Building. The two-bedroom suit...

I stayed here as part of a group for work, and really was blown away by the privacy, and the relaxing character of the place. The beach was amazing, as was the pool. There were so many amenities, it really felt like a vacation, even though I was there for work. My suite was really generously appointed, and huge! Even though we were in a fairly busy part of town, it didn't feel like it one bit. I even booked a massage, and looooved it. Thank you!

We stayed two nights in early November and was upgraded to a large suite. It was very nice and clean. The balcony was overlooking the beach which was beautiful. The beach staff was very friendly and helpful. The Beach was fantastic. The dinner at the dining room was good but overpriced!!!
It is a little different that you must sigh for anything you want to pay for. When you check in you give then your credit card and that gives you access to sign for everything. You are not allowed to pay with cash or another credit card for anything on property. I think that is because it is a club and not just a hotel.
Anyway, this is a nice place & I would recommend a stay here.

Room Tip: Make sure you get an beach view!

We stayed at the resort for 11 nights. The location is awesome, quiet and secluded with a tropical feel. The Resort is right on the beach with 2 great pools. Service is excellent, staff is very friendly. Lots to do for the kids, ours were very happy staying there. The resort has a cute beach cafe for burgers and a bar at the pool for nice cocktails and sandwiches. The main restaurant inside the resort has a great breakfast buffet and a very nice evening dinner. The service and food was excellent and you can eat outside as well.
