Found the Embassy Suites to be extremely convenient to the port. Staff for the most part were not very helpful or friendly. We arrived late at night ( after 9 pm)
After not eating all day from traveling we were told there was nothing available. found out from a bell hop that there was an Irish Bar across the street.. Next morning we missed the complimentary breakfast because the times were not well posted, possibly due to the remodeling. To top it off, housekeeping showed up 1-1/2 hours before checkout and she practically ripped me a new one because we weren't ready to leave and she was there to clean. We were inconveniencing her. NICE ATTITUDE. Every though the Embassy Suites is close to the port I am sure we will find a friendly hotel next time we sail out of Fort Lauderdale.

This is an ideal place to stay before you set sail or after. Its close to shops and restaurants. It provides a managers reception and includes breakfast. The staff is friendly and helpful. The lobby was under renovation when I stayed there, although I expect it will be done shortly. They were revamping the breakfast area, it looks like they will be able to accommodate guests faster.

We booked in advance and stayed one night post cruise in November.
What a gem of a hotel. Currently going through some renovations, but no inconvenience at all to Guests.
The room was fabulous. Very clean, very roomy, bed very comfy, and most of all this hotel has a great character about it, and very close to port.
We arrived early due to early arrival of cruise ship into port.
The hotel was happy to store our suitcases while we did a walk around the local shops.
Room was ready early, and the staff very friendly.
The atrium of the hotel is beautiful, and a lovely ambience.
We grabbed a pizza from the restaurant for dinner and it was delicious.
Great little gift shop in the foyer for a couple of last minute buys before we left the following morning
They provided shuttle service to the airport for us as well.

We highly recommend Embassy Suites, and we will happily return when we go back to Fort Lauderdale.

We took a group to this hotel that flew in from all over Canada and the USA and although they were updating the hotel we were not inconvenienced at all. I am sure the renovations will be done now and I know it will look amazing when done. The check in at the front counter was fast and we were in our rooms in no time. Rooms were very clean and large and we had a suite as the whole hotel is suites so we had a living room with a fridge/coffee maker etc and a big bedroom.

The breakfast was plentiful and did not cost more as it was free when you book a room and the drinks in the evening add great value to the cost of this hotel. You can get a drink head out to the pool and relax in the jungle like pool area and hot tub. It is like you have been transformed back to a resort and it is so soothing.

Restaurant food was excellent and the bar staff very helpful and friendly. Everyone of my clients loved this hotel and want to come back again when they go on a cruise. It is location location location. The bus runs right to the beach for 1.00, the shopping centers around it have so many places to eat/shop and drink. Total Wines is in the plaza as well as Publics and many other places nearby like Ross's etc. All of these are walking distances. Security is very good as well and we had no issues.

The next time the Bob Family and their friends are in Fort Lauderdale area we will be staying at this hotel...WE LOVED IT...THANKS TO ALL THE STAFF FOR MAKING OUR STAY A PLEASANT ONE.

Room Tip: it is close to the airport and to the cruise ship terminal...make sure you use the pool area...it is...

This is my second time at this property and it just keeps getting better. We were greeted by the friendliest clerk we have ever encountered. Kathleen is truly an asset and took perfect care of us. The suites were clean and spacious as was the whole property. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and plentyful. Lots of restaurants within walking distance and there is a Publix supermarket right across the road..also the price point was perfect!!

We stayed 6 nights pre-cruise, flying in from Heathrow to Miami. The best thing about this hotel was the evening drinks reception. For 2 hours every evening you can have free cocktails, wines, beers and spirits plus snacks. There is also a very nice breakfast which we found set us up for the day. The pool area is also lovely, although the hotel is in a very built up area with busy roads all around, once you are around the pool you cannot hear the cars and the foliage and waterfalls all add to the feeling of tranquillity. The room was fine, but we did find it very dark and there are no balconies to speak of, just a standing area. We did ask to change to a room with a balcony but the few they have only take one small table and one chair so we decided it was not worth the bother of moving, plus the views from all sides of the hotel overlook the roads and the traffic noise is very loud. The bed was really comfortable and the bedroom and lounge area were spotless. We were a little disappointed with the location of the hotel, I had thought it was walking distance to the beach but although we did walk it, it was a good 40 minutes along a very busy road. The trolley bus stops just outside so this was not too big a problem and the water taxi is only 10 minutes walk away. One thing I would mention is to be careful of the concierge, every time we asked about a taxi price to a certain place or enquired if we could get a bus we were told that the cheapest way was to use the hotel transport and that it was not possible to go by bus. We found out that many of the places we visited were easy to access by bus and also that a taxi was far cheaper than the hotel transport. To sum up, ok for a pre-cruise 1 or 2 night stay but would not recommend longer stays.

Room Tip: if you want a room with a view, stay some where else.

After a long flight from London and transfer to the hotel we were warmly greeted and into our room in 10 minutes. It was perfectly fine for this short stay.
The restaurant food quality was only average and expensive for what was on offer.
Breakfast was again average and not well organised as they were refurbishing the main areas. Long lines at certain times.
BEWARE THE CONCIERGE WHO MISLEADS YOU ON THE COST OF A TAXI TRANSFER. He claimed that on average a cab would cost up to $50 because of the long lines. We opted instead for the transfer at $8 each. A taxi realistically would cost only about 10.
Would stay again if needing an overnight stay.

Room Tip: Do not trust the concierge
